For the fan with 11500.00 to burn and lots of time to paint

GarrisonMiniatures21 Sep 2013 4:29 p.m. PST

That's a lot of blue.

richarDISNEY21 Sep 2013 5:21 p.m. PST

at $11,690.00 USD, I'll take two! wink
beer

StarfuryXL521 Sep 2013 5:28 p.m. PST

I wonder how much extra it will cost you when you factor in the paint you'll have to buy. And the glue, primer and sealer. And the basing material … aaaarrrggh!

Mithmee21 Sep 2013 5:41 p.m. PST

But they are Ultramarines and they suck.

Plus GW just made them even worst with the latest Codex.

Karnophage21 Sep 2013 8:46 p.m. PST

There is no discount in this offer. someone actually checked out the individual pricing on it.

Wolfprophet21 Sep 2013 11:47 p.m. PST

Karnophage, whoever did that math was incorrect. It's a roughly $1,300 USD savings. Several other people did the math as well. You also get free signed artwork and a couple of signed books with it. (Which everyone seems to miss?) This is the only bundle they've released that is actually a savings…. I'm sure they'll sell at least one to some crazy person with too much money and not enough time and it'll all sit in a room somewhere, 90% of it completely untouched years later.

If I were filthy rich, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, then paint it a company or vehicle at a time for resale over on a forum like Dakka Dakka or BoLS where I'd probably get the best prices back out of it. Would take me at least 3 years to paint it all though….and that's not including the time spent assembling!

Other GW offers have presented good savings and have been cheaper than 3rd party discounters. The storm of magic one a month or so ago was cheaper than any online supplier and saved the UK buyer £20.00 GBP, you ineffect got one kit free.

One problem with pricing these offers is how the bundles are constructed. But as Wolfprophet says there is a saving in this and I guess free P&P.

My first thought was "This is the kind of thing bought by someone who will turn around and pay someone else to paint it." Hopefully they have the sense to not send more than one company at a time to the painter.

Well… One one hand you have a steady income for years as a miniature painter if a client sends you the whole chapter in one go, on the other hand you might get mental health issues… ;-)

A miniature painter waking up screaming "NO MORE BLUE! I HATE SMURFS!"…

Don't you need an equal sized force to fight them with?

Heretic!

Oooh….the Emperor is gonna be SOOOOOO mad at you.

"If I were filthy rich, I'd buy it in a heartbeat,"

Sorry, I would not because they are Ultramarines and not

But EMO Ultramarines

Never

ancientsgamer22 Sep 2013 8:38 p.m. PST

so a $1,300 USD saving, which amounts to 10% off? Hmm, seems to me they ought to toss in a lifetime White Dwarf subscription, paints, glue, transfers and tools to model all of this. Oh, and probably all the rules too. But maybe they are? I bet you they sell at least a dozen of these armies….

Bob Runnicles23 Sep 2013 6:21 a.m. PST

As someone mentioned earlier they do include multiple additional books, posters etc in addition to the figures themselves. No rules, but I think they would assume that if you're prepared to drop $11,000 USD+ on Marines that you probably already have the rulebook….

"For the fan with 11500.00 to burn (…)"

If most of it is 'Finecast', it'll more likely melt if left in the car too long…. ;-)

Wolfprophet23 Sep 2013 5:08 p.m. PST

Errm. Last I checked, they're grey plastic…. So, unless the army comes painted, they can be whatever the hell you want them to be after you set brush to them.

Mithmee23 Sep 2013 6:27 p.m. PST

Sorry need the Robes.

Plus the leaders will be Ultramarines and have the Chapter markings.
