Very nice, Mike and JBR! I like the new cockpit design quite a bit – very sleek. This new Viper might end up getting assigned to my Pangalactic Legion figures, since my Titan Marines already use HAMRs. Looks like the same lower half as the EF Vipers
Any chance of getting a third leg pose printed and added to the mix while you're doing this? Even something as simple as a mirrored version of the current "advancing" pose would add some extra variety to the Viper ranges. -Chris K. |

Sweet! I need to get more of the current Vipers, plus these when they're available. |
Umpapa | 20 Sep 2013 9:30 a.m. PST |
RM had already promised new legs poses for existing Vipers. Lets try knocking the door, maybe it will move those legs up in their timetable. I really need those new legs, ASAP. |

I really like this new sleeker look, just a very minor personal issue that being the detail on the lower front leg armour i would have preferred to see that area plain as that would be the prime place to add your numbered decals. |

@Umpapa- We are working on it :) @AVAMANGO- We have some ideas
John it working on some designs, but we love feedback! |

Love it
I bet the whole cockpit area would work well for a sci-fi fighter jet too.. |

Slick , i like it , though i will have to add a little armor to the hips. fun stuff .. |

Since it is multipart anyway, would you please consider making the awful thick base a separate part, or at least thinning it down? I have one of the older vipers, and it took quite some work to cut it off so I could mount it on something more reasonable. Other than that, it looks good though maybe a bit top-heavy. |

I'd like to see a HAMR chassis more in line with the original VIPER's. I'm thinking a heavy support HAMR and two or three VIPERS with the HAMR scout arm sprues per side on a small heavily built up city board. Of course you could also do an extra VIPER variant more like the Earth Force HAMR ;-) |

I have one of the older vipers, and it took quite some work to cut it off so I could mount it on something more reasonable. Yep, I second this thought. What I ended up doing is cutting my own 1.5" x 2" bases out of 1/4" hardboard. Then I sanded down the middle part to sink in the "surfboards" mounted to the HAMR and VIPR feet. The cast bases on the legs are too shallow front-to-back to hold the mech on the gaming table, but too thick top-to-bottom to simply mount onto another base. Thinning or removing it would add a lot of flexibility to the way we base these (otherwise fantastic) Rebel mecha. And it's certainly not isolated to these
I've had the same problem with many figures – some sculptors include an extremely thick blob below the feet, and those figures look like they are standing on huge boulders if you don't file them down. But that has not been a problem for any Rebel figures in my collection. :) -Chris K. |

I'll look into this. the problem we had with thinner bases was warping
We might look at removingthe base. Thanks for teh feedback.. we'll start testing! RebelMike |

Base as a separate piece would make me a much happier camper, personally. Or even just leave it out of the kit altogether if you can cast the legs without it – washers are universally available, and work as well or better. |

Here's the start of a Work In Progress blog series, showing the first iteration of the Titan Viper Suit design. It starts with a version earlier than in the OP, and was essentially a Titan RUMV turret smashed into a shoulder-less Titan HAMR suit. ;) link Enjoy!

Here's Part Two of the WIP series on the Titan Viper. link This is the same series of pics from the OP, with a little more background on the modifications taking place.

I'm afraid those arms don't make sense. When outstretched to the front it won't be able to reach anything as it's 'nose' is so far out. Either the arms have to be longer/much further forwards or the nose shorter. |
John Bear Ross | 02 Oct 2013 7:58 a.m. PST |
But they're great for sending semaphore signals to the side! ;)
Seriously, though, yes, the nose will be blunted in future updates (sculpting is already done and mech is out for quote). Best, JBR |

Also, Dijit80, you can see the shoulder mounting points were moved a little more forward. Next update is the blunted nose. Thus, the arms become useful for more than wiping off the cockpit glass with a large cloth. ;) Best, JBR |

needs bigger gattling gun!!! or power punching fists (ref armoured trooper votoms) |
John Bear Ross | 06 Oct 2013 3:02 p.m. PST |
Gatlings, we've got, in spades, already done for the EF Vipers. link Large fists from the Earth Force HAMR suits would probably fit the bill, as well. link Best, JBR |
AVAMANGO | 06 Oct 2013 11:07 p.m. PST |
I really like the new leg design, maybe the feet could be a bit bulkier, the fact you have moved the arm sockets slightly more forward is a good idea too. When you get to blunting the nose down a bit hows about adding gun ports either side like on the old jet fighters of the 50's-60's.

John Bear Ross | 07 Oct 2013 12:09 a.m. PST |
It's already out to print, but not to worry on the feet. They were enlarged and detailed out with a boot-like tread around their outer edges. As to the gun ports, too late for this Viper. Good suggestion for the next one, though! Best, JBR |
Rebel Minis | 07 Oct 2013 4:11 a.m. PST |
I like the Gun Ports idea as well! |
Splintered Light Miniatures | 12 Oct 2013 5:07 a.m. PST |
Yes, the Gun Ports idea is great. Really fantastic stuff here. |

The fifth and final part of the WIP series is up, and the model is out for printing. link
Now, on to more RUM-V parts. I'll let you know when the printouts get here. Best, JBR |
