Has anyone tried out these rules? What are your thoughts. I have been thinking about getting them but would like to see a few more reviews. Thanks |

Anyone out there try these rules? Have not seen a review in WSS either, I thought there was going to be a review in issue 70, but picked it up the other day and nothing. |

I have played a few games with these rules. There is a good description of the game on the Peter Pig web site which is worth a read. The main rules are based around the idea of one raiding party consisting of five units (boats for vikings or raiding parties if Saxons/Irish etc). Both side turn up with five units each the pregame determining who is the attacker and who is the defender. Once the pregame is over the defender deploys one unit the attacker four, the other inits being reserves that will arrive a various times during the game (dice dependent). The main aim of the attacker is to find some loot, the defender to slow this down get on the reinforcements and get back the loot. The game is not the DBM/FOG type straight slog (nothing wrong with that as I enjoy those too) and as such does give a different type of game. It is played on a grid so can be played using figures based for DBM/FOG. I understand Peter Pig are currently using this as their demonstration game, not sure if you are in the UK but if so you could always talk to them at a show to get an understanding of the rules and have a go. Thanks, no I'm not in the UK on the other side of the pond. It does sound like it would give an interesting game, not the usual slog. |

I just received a copy of the game from Brookhurst Hobbies. I also bought a sampling of the figures to see if I liked the range. The jury is still out on the rules; I will reserve judgment until I step through a game. In general I don't like making comments about a set of rules until I play at least one game. They do seem they like they will play well. On the other hand, the figures are really nice. Not nice in a they have magnificent detail but nice like just enough detail without making me fell like I could never paint these adequately nice with little to no flash. I painted half a unit already and they paint up very well. A word about Brookhurst Hobbies. I have never ordered from them before but I'm impressed with their customer service. They are in California and I'm in Virginia and received my order in two days. It shipped on 9 April and I received on 11 April. I'm looking forward to posting a more detailed review in the near future. |

Debating whether to go with these rules or Saga? Thoughts? |
