For those who are unaware of Forge World, these figures are outstanding. The detail of the clothing and animation of the figures really is superb. link Check out the other figures and accessories. Great stuff all so very well painted. |

The Mukaali rough riders are especially cool. Let's see how many "I hate GW and their prices are insulting" thread bombs we can get
my bet is within 2 more comments. |

I love looking at Forge World stuff. But looking is all I can do. Exchange and shipping are a killer. |
45thdiv | 15 Sep 2013 4:03 p.m. PST |
Oh, and I think Forge World prices are fine. Limited edition resin of very high quality. |
Pictors Studio | 15 Sep 2013 4:25 p.m. PST |
Those are some pretty sweet figures. I've always thought that the desert raider were some of the better IG concepts. It always amazed me that their first plastic set was the catachans as they seemed the least appealing to me. |

I have a fairly large Tallarn army, including the Forge World snipers and a few tank commanders. I'd love to have a unit of Mukaali cavalry, too, but, as Rwphillipsstl says, 90UKP for a unit of 5 is just too rich for my blood. |
YogiBearMinis | 16 Sep 2013 4:53 a.m. PST |
I am actually okay with the prices, I get that this is a modeling company and not a hobbyist. I just think it is funny that whenever someone posts about anything GW, a person comes in an rants about how their prices have gone up to fast, etc. |
Mithmee | 16 Sep 2013 6:41 a.m. PST |
Gee, I wonder why we rant. Twenty years ago you could get far more and while inflation is a reason for some of today prices. But a 5-10% price increase and in some cases 50% or more. Two things we know about GW. 1. They hate their customers and will screw them over. & 2. They will increase prices each and every year usually for no other reason then number 1 above. "my bet is within 2 more comments." Nope it was 8 but then I just found this thread. |
Bob Runnicles | 17 Sep 2013 5:48 a.m. PST |
I was ready to take bets that Mithmee would be in here sooner or later to pee all over the otherwise fairly positive nature of this thread, and sure enough
we get it, dude! You hate GW! Can't you just leave well enough alone now and let the folks that do like it have their fun? |
The Angry Piper | 17 Sep 2013 10:03 a.m. PST |
Actually, these ARE really cool. One of the things I miss most about Imperial Guard is the loss of the various regiments. I play Mordian Iron Guard, myself, and have about 2500 points of Mordians that haven't seen battle in a long time. One of my friends from back in the day had a really nice Valhallan Ice Warriors army, complete with snowy bases and scratch-built sentinels (this was before the Sentinel kit was available). I'm with Pictors, the Catachans were the least appealing IG army for me. Well, second least appealing. The Attilan Rough Riders were kind of dumb, IMO. I DO like the Tallarn Rough Riders, though
they look great! Forge World makes some cool stuff indeed, but it's a big investment. For whatever reason, Forge World prices don't bug me as much as standard GW stuff. Like 45 Div said, LE Resin stuff is worth it, but with the shipping it's a little too much for me. |

I will say I prefer the Elysian Drop Troops. Ill get a couple of squads one day. Have some of the Cadian conversion kits. Nice looking sets. Ill admit I'm pretty much over the GW figures these days. I don't like the way the Orcs have gone or space marines ( I preferred the beakies). I do like the Empire range a lot though and the dark elves, Tau and Inperial guard have some interesting figures still. My favourite games were always necromunda, mordheim and bloodbowl/ Kerrunch. Great fun. Still are when you can find the rules. |

Oh yes, I'm sure they spend their time in dark rooms, fingers steepled, plotting about how they can abuse their customers

If you can get a couple of friends together and reach the 250GBP threshold you can score free shipping worldwide – that's what we usually do. |

Piper, why would you stop using established Regiments? They are just as valid as any other since released. If its a GW store issue,it is their product and they are more than happy to support your use of it. |
Edwulf | 19 Sep 2013 2:19 a.m. PST |
Going back a bit but I loved the old 36 figure £9.99 GBP IG figure set. You could buy some awesome rough riders in similar uniforms with metal bodies and plastic arms. They had ones with cuirasses, or slouch hats. Easily the best rough riders they did. |
The Angry Piper | 19 Sep 2013 5:06 a.m. PST |
WarpSpeed: I never stopped using them. If I played a game of 40K at a store or at home today, I would use them. I just think GW's focus on Cadians and Catachans exclusively was unfortunate, at least from a player/hobbyist's perspective. I'm sure it was motivated by sales, and there's nothing wrong with that. But the late 90's/early 2000's were a good time for IG players with all the variety available, and I miss that. I can keep my fingers crossed for FW to do some Mordians in the future. I like their Death Korps and I like the Tallarns, too. Just not enough to buy a new IG army from them. If they did Mordians, though
that might make me fork over some money. I'm already sorely tempted by the alternate pattern Hellhound tanks on the site. |
Bob Runnicles | 19 Sep 2013 6:03 a.m. PST |
I never used to like the Mordians until I saw one painted in USMC Dress Uniform colors, at which point I was completely sold. I also liked the small run of Praetorians they did following the Big Toof River display game. |
WarpSpeed | 19 Sep 2013 9:40 p.m. PST |
I have 2 companies Valhallans,a company of Cadians,2 platoons Stormtroopers,2 platoons Vostroyans,a 30 man platoon of Attilan rough riders and enough Ogryn to make Orks cry.Add 1 Mordian squad ,yep just 1.Old Guard, new Guard
good fellows ,all of them(except those pesky Schaeffers boys). |
chromedog | 22 Sep 2013 4:46 a.m. PST |
Well, actually, necromunda and mordheim are no longer available via GW's website. Nor is any other product of the "specialist" games line. They are dead, kaput, joined the choir invisible. There's gotta be something seriously wrong with the world when "FW" niche resin squads are cheaper than the GW plastics that they may be used instead of. :D |
The Angry Piper | 22 Sep 2013 10:01 a.m. PST |

I'm not into 40k but saw these a while back and fancied having a go at painting the sniper team. After dropping enough hints to confidently expect them to be under the xmas tree on xmas day i was quite disappointed to learn that they were not there! Guess i'll have to buy them myself. |

Just play Orkz and convert all your vehicles from toys to trukks with plasticard. Saves a lot of money. |
