I have just posted a battle report on my Battlegame of the Month blog of a solo game played to honour Don Featherstone. It is a slight variation on the sample ACW "situation" from Battle With Model Soldiers which was my first book on wargaming which probably explains why I've never been able to stick with one period.

The game was fought with my glossy toy style 40mm figures, mostly either Scruby or homecast inc originals. The rules are the newest iteration of With MacDuff to the Frontier including a few more Featherstone inspirations this time. The setting was part of my fictional campaigns in Atlantica between the armies of Faraway and Oberhilse (rather British like Red vs mostly American like Blue), this game set in the last 1850's

The report can be found here:

I'm sorry to report that no neckties were worn during the game.

Battles with Model Soldiers was my first war game book as well. Brings back memories of solo games using plastic Airfix figures on the pool table in the family room.

ACW has always been a favorite period as a result.

Thanks for posting.

A very good period piece – we'll forgive you the neckties!
