By the end of this month hope to have an FAQ/errata for Ronin, which will be posted online along with the points calculator, which will allow folks to create their own profiles.

Later in the year hope to have a new faction, and maybe some special characters.

Final plans at this stage are profiles for some mythological creatures, as many players like that sort of thing.

cheers

Sounds great. Ronin is a great system. I am just two games into it, and I think it will have some longevity.

If special characters means historical heroes, as SAGA has, that would be another welcome addition. Thanks for the news and continuing work.

I would think scenarios books would do quite well too. In fact, I was just reading the tale of the 47 Ronin and it got me excited to finish up my warband this weekend.

Creatures sounds like a great idea – Ogres, Oni demoms, etc.

Thank you for the post, Craig. That is good news, indeed. I'm enjoying "Ronin" very much. Outstanding rules.

Just finished a test game today with Dave of Kingsford Miniatures (maker of fine Samurai figures, but I digress) and we agree while there are some fuzzy parts of the rules it's a winner and we'll be taking it to the Trumpeter Club soon. What I would like to see is a "chambara" supplement, one that covers the exciting world of the classical 1960's- 70's Samurai movies (Zaitoichi, Lone Wolf and Cub, "Sleepy eyes of death", Kill, Kurosawa's Jojimbo, Sanjiro, Ran,Seven Samurai, etc…) Maybe not Hanzo the razor! It would be similar in spirit I suppose to the upcoming rules for the Shaw Brothers martial arts 1970's Chinese films.

Wkeyser – yep, got all of the old Confrontation figures myself (somewhere), will be seeking them out over Xmas.

Errata done, should be up in the near future.

cheers

Hi Craig, If you want to rules test with me I have a few fanatasy kensai minis I have assembled.

Borathan16 Feb 2014 9:10 p.m. PST

Craig, is there any chance of getting an official call on the base size for horses?

craigjwoodfield23 Feb 2014 12:55 p.m. PST

Nope – because I am sure people can work it out themselves. I'm not in the habit of issuing official rulings on anything.

I use 40mm round bases, which works for me and the people I play with.

That's what I was planning on using, the thing is that there are enough people in the local group I've been trying to get together who are aiming for the 25x50 cavalry ones…which creates other issues.

Codsticker24 Feb 2014 9:26 p.m. PST

Wha other issues? I haven't played a game yet; I am in the planning stage. With so few figures I intend to go with 40mm with cavalry and infantry.

Borathan25 Feb 2014 9:04 a.m. PST

Codsticker, the issue comes from a few people using the rectangular bases that create issues in the game. Partially because they also tend to use the no facing part to essentially gain free movement.

Skeptic25 Feb 2014 6:12 p.m. PST

I'm not sure that I understand what the issue is, but if they were to spin them about the base centers, then I shouldn't think that there would be much of an advantage distance-wise…

Of course, a house rule might fix the issue.

Borathan26 Feb 2014 7:39 p.m. PST

Skeptic, part of it is that I tend to prefer to have a limit on house rules for a game. It means that if you post something you need fewer things listed for advertising if trying for more locals, and a list of house rules doesn't help that much in finding new players…

craigjwoodfield28 Feb 2014 1:45 p.m. PST

Here's an official ruling – if you use the size or shape of the base to gain some sort of gamey movement advantage, you are a $&@! and I don't want you playing my game.

Cheers

There you go- it's official!

*gives thumbs up*

Upgraydd02 Mar 2014 9:21 p.m. PST

I just picked up the rules and am keen to start playing. With official rulings like the above I'm sure I'll love it!
