I've been collecting (in a desultory fashion) material and figures to create a sort of "Great War versus Cthulhu-like critters" game, and it's finally coalescing into a bona fide project-- it won't be quick since the figures ain't going to be cheap (except for the footsoldiers) but it's very doable. Details here: link If you have any suggestions for any Cthulhu style "Cthonian" critter that might scale well against 1:600 (or 3mm), please mention them. I've listed a few on this blog post. Thanks for reading, Walt O'Hara |

Love the idea! I've got some Reaper Minis Rift Blights to use as space monsters that might work for you. Also, if you can scratchbuild at all, get some Safari LTD sea creature 'tubes' that ahve an assortment of 2"-3" critters and liberally apply tentacles, wings, etc. |

I did go with the floating jellyfish idea. I have about 20 on the way so there will be a very decent aerial contingent now. Rift Blights are very cool. :-)
Have you checked out THIS kickstarter? Tentacles galore: link |

Grisly, otherworldy hordes – just my cup of tea
or slime! Fantastic work. I also have a penchant for assembling monstrosities from cheap plastic creatures. The plastic loves superglue and takes carving fairly well – gotta say it's a fun material to work with, espiecially since it's so cheap you can experiment loads and make tons of weird beasties. Makes me think it's time to get out that bunch of snail shells my daughter collected and turn them into something horrendous! |

Well if you're familiar with Shapeways products, I have these things I've set up for Full Thrust which could also work for you maybe: Fire Vampires/Lloigor: link link Narthalopish deoman-thingies? link I have prints of these and I was fairly satisfied with them although with Shapeways YMMV |

How are the tentacles under the shells made, please? |

I use various things for tentacles. I put a lot of snake heads on human figures, so I end up with a lot of headless cheap toy plastic snake bodies. Also cheap plastic dinosaur tails (8,10,12 for a dollar ones) are nice. Plastic toy octopi are good, too. The smaller tentacles on the armoured jellyfish are floral wire; I like using a couple different styles/thicknesses of tentacle in this type of project. The shells are held together with knedatite and the tentacles are molded into that. |
