Like the DS9

Its a good game – pre paint is pretty dire but a wash and dry brush fixes that.

Like X-wing but has more 'layers' and feels better as a portrayal of Star Trek than X-Wing does as a portrayal of Star Wars – if that makes any sense what so ever.

"…and feels better as a portrayal of Star Trek than X-Wing does as a portrayal of Star Wars …"

That's very interesting. From what I've read elsewhere, there are a *lot* of people saying the exact opposite. I can't comment personally, as I haven't played Attack Wing -- but I'd love for it to be good.

I think it does Dominion War era better than TOS or pre-Borg War TNG. In DW and Borg Wars, ships go down like fighters. (Ironically, it seemed the Federation fighter wings lasted longer than capital ships!)

So I think it is how you perceive ST combat.

I dislike X-wing and messed with Attack Wing while playing X-Wing at Dice Tower Con back on July 4th. I like Star Trek: Fleet Captains much better and it uses the same ships unpainted. So that scratches my ship battle itch with extra layers.

Are Attack Wing movement templates completely compatible with X-Wing movement templates? I'd love another set of curves and straights to fit in with XW, I'd love an excuse to change horses and look at Star Trek.

They are compatible but they added some templates. There is a 4 slight curve and a 6 straight in the attack wing box. I need to get my hands on one so I can release an upgrade set for our acrylic X-wing pack. I'm also working on updating the dials for wave 3 and the new movement types.

The one slight is not quite the same either

Another vote that it recreates Star Trek battles well. Haven't found ships being destroyed quite that easily. Have not seen any ship one-hit any other ship, and a good hit is usually hard to follow up (unless you are completely and totally outmaneuvering your opponent).

Winning comes down to maneuver first and foremost, and you often get a second chance even after getting a mouthful of Klingon disruptors at close range . . .
