So how would one paint (or at least suggest) this pattern on 6mm minis? I'm at a loss.

In 6mm on the tabletop? It's going to look tan with a green tinge.

I used paints a bit watered down and "flicked" with an old tooth brush on these 6mm Grunts. You have to play with it and do touch up a bit … but –

I would base coat with Vallejo Khaki Gray, followed by a very light stipple of Vallejo Dark Sand and an even lighter stipple of Vallejo Reflective Green. Then a light dry brush of lightened Khaki Gray. Then pick out flesh, weapons and any other details you want to emphasize.

Granted that is a lot of work for 6mm so just Khaki Gray alone would look about right on the table.
