Shapeways now offers a model of a World War Two Heinkel He 115 floatplane. You'll find a rendering at link My only complaints are that the leading edge of the wing is too blunt and the trailing edge is too thick. On the other hand, it's relatively inexpensive, very study, and will paint up nicely. |

Looks like it could use some detailing – greenhouse frames, panel and control surface lines, etc. It's better than the nothing available, though. Doug |

I've often pondered how much detail a 6mm airplane model should have to look realistic. The glass areas will require careful painting. Given the flat nature of the wings and tail, the control surfaces should be easy enough to add with a fine Micron pen. I'm hoping they'll do a Dornier Do 18 and Do 26 someday. |
