Ah, a legend passes. I was lucky enough to meet him at Historicon a couple of years ago. He was a real gentleman. |

Like Jeff I met him a couple of years back at one of his talks at HCon. I actually was a member of the Wargamers Newsletter 30+ years ago. It was so exciting to get that little link to the hobby each month or two. A great fellow! C |

The pictures linked to your article are great. Are the personalities listed from right to left? I can identify some of the people in the picture. They seem to list folks from left to right. |

I too was influenced by Donald Featherstone's books in my youth having borrowed many from my local library. I still turn to the few I own for the occasional bit of inspiration or just an interesting read. RIP Mr Featherstone! |

In the second photo, Tony Bath is in the middle nearest the table, Charles Grant is just to the right of him. For a better quality image: link (scanned from an original picture I have in the Society of Ancients archive) Phil |

I liked the idea of a shirts and tie celebratory game. Perhaps we could all adopt the attire at Colours on 14 and 15 September in Don's memory Ian |

It is wonderful that we had someone so dedicated to our hobby. Rest in Peace, Don! |

Of course back in the early 60s that's just what adult men wore; shirts and ties. You can tel they are being casual by wearing sweaters or sports jackets. As common then as golf shirts are today. Not a bad look really. |

I'll go with that Ian, I shall be there properly dressed. |

Sad News. Like many of my generation it was him and his punlication, Wargamers Newsletter, that introduced me to this wonderful hobby. Met him on several occasions. A true gentleman. RIP The Don |

Want to know something weird? I dreamed about DF the night he died and I didn't know he had died! I had never dreamed about the man before! I was at a gaming con (they occasionally show up in my dreams) and someone brought me up to a table where this old guy was sitting and said "That's Donald Featherstone". If you're a materialist (like me), chalk it up to subconsciously noting something about his death somewhere on the internet and having this pop up in my dreams. Still, it's unsettling. In my dream, he was frowning at me. I don't think he was quite happy with my scale of choice: 3mm. :) |

Has anyone been able to locate an obituary? |

A giant in the hobby. Truly sad. |

I've tried to locate an on-line obit (e.g. the Daily Telegraph) but no luck. Surely some wargaming website should post one. |
