With the release of Star Wars X-Wing game, is a modern jet fighter version of this game possible?

Yes. Will it happen, dunno maybe. You could use metal models and adapt the rules.

Or use Check Your 6….

There are many of us who use the Wings of Glory planes for other rules such as Canvas Eagles too.

@DSGilbert: Well, the motion controls for a lot of the Star Wars fighters were based on Mustangs and Messerschmidts. The Millennium Falcon specifically handles like the A-20 Havoc.

While Wings of War has some nice, slick rules, I personally prefer Air War C21.

What rule sets are out their? I prefer games that are not on a hex board.

There's already a rules set that uses curved turning templates, and is the predecessor to X-Wing.

It's called Clash of Sabres, and has stats and rules for aerial combat from post-WWII – early 1970s.

With the curved turning templates, that have cm hashmarks on them, so you can move partway along, as needed, desired, depending upon your airspeed.

It is an excellent set of rules, and includes 3-D movement as well.

Recommended.

You can use 1/300th or 1/600th scale jets, as well as other scales too, though those are the most popular.

Check Your Six for the Jet Age is a great game. I highly recommend you check it out before trying to convert X-Wing. I LOVE X-Wing but I don't think it captures the flavor of jet combat at all.

I purchased Air War C21 Max. Any tips or things I should know?

Ok a bit late posting but..
Well since Wings of War became Wings of Glory, its not likely to happen, but it would ROCK, if they came out with a Jet age version.
I. E., "Jets of Glory". Ex. F-86 Sabres – Mig 15's.

Maybe even one of my fav. the F9F Panther. Just a cool plane in my opinion.

Again, not holding my breath, but the paint jobs they did on WW I and WW II were great. Only wish they had done the Korean War period as well.
