Hello, all you Autumnal conventioneers. The Guidebook Helper app for FALL IN 2013 is already published and available for download. What, you gasp? Before SEPTEMBER? For a NOVEMBER convention? Well, yes. Dan Murawski approached me at HISTORICON 2013 with a request to have the Guidebook app up and available for download even before the PEL came out, if possible. His reasoning was that the Guidebook was incredibly useful but since I usually end up putting it up for publication only when I have ALL the data for a final version, it is only available for a short time before the convention and a lot of people miss out because they don't know about it. There's no technical problems with uploading a guidebook now, it just only has EVENTS in it (about 90+ as of this writing). As I add things to it, like MAPS, VENDORS, HOBBY UNIVERSITY and TOURNAMENTS, and of course, MORE EVENTS, I'll publish updates. The next time you open Guidebook (in a wireless or 3G connection) Guidebook will prompt you to download my updates. It takes care of all of that for you, which is pretty spiffy. What IS guidebook? Well, for those of you not in the know, it's a mobile device app that works on Ipads, Ipod Touches, Android Tablets and Phones, and any mobile device that can touch a website. Guidebook maintains a schedule of ALL events at a convention, builds your own, private schedule and alerts you when your event is imminent, maintains lists of Vendors and Maps where the tables are located for both events and vendors. Guidebook, in a very generalized sense, takes the place of a printed directory. Screenshot: link QR Code to get Guidebook: link As usual, I've posted the classic "What is Guidebook and where to get it" blog post on my blog, the Third Point of Synchronicity. link Feel free to pop over and read up on this thing. V/R and thanks for your time Walt O'Hara |

Moe, look twice. There's an entire separate Toys for Tots track, with significant events (bids closing, auction opening etc.) AND it has a spiffy Toys for Tots logo at the top. How's THAT for service? Walt |
