Remembering Marx WOW Figures

If you were a kid in the 1960s who loved history and toy soldiers, you probably had a WOW figure!

Stop on by and look at the collection as the Secondhand Lions prepare for Recruits convention in Lee's Summit.

I have a lot of BMC; they are a little rough in the flesh but they look fine when painted up.

I actually have been considering doing the same. Probably with BMC or similar figures. My reasoning is that if you get them at a bit of a discount, they go for less than 28mm figures in many cases. I forget the company; they advertise on TMP and they have been releasing new figures.

My motivation is that clean paint jobs will look fine, they would be easy for my children to paint and they remind me of my larger plastic figures of my youth. This wouldn't be about serious wargaming per se, but just fun interaction time with the kids both in playing and painting these up.

Thanks for the additional inspiration.

Coupla things. One, the limber is not by Accurate. They never made one. It's by Imex.
Two, BMC is crap. No matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it's still a pig.

Now just hold on there a minute!

We don't rent pigs.

Thanks for the clarification on the limber. I acquired that item recently aftermarket and never saw the box.

Dear Bill;
BMC may be a pig, but you can get a whole lot of bacon out of one pig.

And bacon has beauty all its own.

Are the limber horses also Imex?

I ask because it seems 54mm harness horses are hard to find – except for the lame (pun intended) Marx ones.

Lions Den28 Aug 2013 6:29 a.m. PST

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm bacon….

nevinsrip28 Aug 2013 8:47 p.m. PST

Yes, you can buy limber horese direct from Imex, but they are really 1/35 scale NOT 1/32. They will look out of scale for 54 mm figures.

Beegleface, Great! lots of bacon = MASSIVE HEART ATTACK.
You are better off eating BMC figures.

No wonder you're not a General yet!
