Hello, You can read my first and certainly not my last battlereport at warsforthethrone.blogspot.se The rules used were Lord of the rings SBG but with no magic and technological equal forces.

Is LotR SBG still available? I checked around the net and only came up with some auctions but not really deals. With the Hobbit release are they making a "new" version? |

This game really likes nice. I like to use SBG for dark age and later medieval stuff too. For Striker, LOTR SBG is now the Hobbit SBG. Basically the same game with some additions and slight adjustments. The additions are some new uses for might, some new weapon effects, and some new big monster attacks (Hurl, Rend, Bash). The other thing that is newish was the overlay of Warbands – that is grunts have to be in units of up to 12 and must be lead by a hero. You can have independent Heroes (i.e. they lead a warband with no one else in it). The Warband construct has no cost directly associated and you can have as many as you want, but it does impose a limit on the numbers of grunts you can have by virtue of the hero cost. The other thing they did was switch the box format to 10 to 12 minis per infantry box and most of the newer plastic mini sets include parts to make heroes, musicians, and banners (same for the cavalry that are in 6-up format). |

Trees are Woodland scenic, Here I have a guide on how to do them link I would recommend the blue lotr book or return of the king. it don't really matter as the rules are so simple and easy to modify. When I build the armies I use the 12 grunts one hero as the building blocks. I also have some custom rules to represent pikemen and billmen. |

Looks great. Did you enforce any kind of unit cohesion? In the SBG rules, the 1 hero/12 man unit is a booking keeping/ army building rule. Not for the tabletop. Any house rules or changes? Xin |

I just use it as an armybuilding rule. Briefly most of my changes concern weapons, Billmen: in base to base they have +1S but -1F can be used as spear when in support Characters and foot knights: All have Elven blades to show superior training Lances: works as javelins when charging, so you charge one model if you succeed in killing that model with the javeline attack you can continue the charge using you hand weapon. I"m plannning to put up a post on the blog sometimes this week detailing houserules and unit types in detail. |

Nice piece. Shame the basing on the mini's wasn't finished but that's a trifle really. Darrell. It still some work in progress but now I have started seeing the end of the tunnel, I'm planning to have the bases done before christmas. I first need to finish more footmen and knights. Regards, Anders the elder |
