Does anyone know of a good internet source with photos of the Stuart minesweeper used by the 45th Indian Cavalry? Robert |

I've never even heard of it! I'm intrigued. There was an independent squadron of Valentine Scorpions in India/Burma, but I've not seen any photos of those either. |

I googled the hell out of this but came up with nothing. I also binged, just to be sure. And I´m with Mark, I´ve never heard of such an animal. Robert, where did you hear of this? |

Hi guys. I found it in an article in the May-August issue of AFV News Volume 42 Number 2. Its in the article by the title of "Forgotten Funnies,Specialized Armour of the 14th Army 1943-45". It has some information on the Stuart Minesweeper,Lee Improvised Flail tank and Lee Minesweeper. It only has a photo of the Stuart though and not the others . It does have diagrams for the Lees. The photo caption for the Stuart states that the Stuart was modified with a "Cordex Net Device". It also states that "Cordtex" was woven into a net hanging from a bamboo frame. The frame was held up by signal wire attached to the left sponson. 2 primercord Leads led out from the tank. A short one to cut the signal wire to drop the frame/net and the 2nd one to set off the "Cordtex". Robert |

That must have been quite a sight to see, it´s a pity there wasn´t a picture of it. I´ve gone through all of my books and googled and binged and even yahooed, but I came up empty. Let us know if you find it! |

PM sent. I'd be very interested in seeing that. As it happens, I'm just painting some Indian Army Stuarts. |

Heh, great photo! Doubly interesting in that the other tank in the photo is a pukka Grant Mk I, as opposed to a Lee. Grants were VERY rare beasts in Burma. |

I'm glad you received it and liked it Mark . Robert |

Thank you very much Robert! I think I would like to try and rig up one of my 10mm Stuarts with that gear, just for fun |

Thanks, Kaos! now to dig through the 'lead mountain' and see if I have a spare Stuart! |

Most welcome my friends. And you are right Mark that is a Grant in the photo. I don't know how I missed the mention in the caption LOL. Robert |

They often called Lees 'Grants', so it's not that unusual – unless it actually is a Grant! :) (Just to add to the confusion, the M3A5, which had the Lee turret, was designated 'Grant Mk II'!) |

I think alot of people tend to be confused LOL |
