A blog post that kinda bounces all over because I haven't updated in a long while.

I like the camo on the exterminators.

Have you tried a wash on them? It might help to bring out some details, especially in the face.

If you wash the pants, you'll have to go over the camo a little bit again to highlight it.

Also, do you have a plan for bases for them? I usually glue my 15mm minis to pennies and then glue sand, and then paint the sand.

I really like the colors you chose for the Khurasan Minis insurgents… they look the part!

They do have a wash on them, but ever since taking the photos I've been planning on going back and fixing some things up (including going with a thicker wash in some of the recessed areas). I tend to do this after taking photos, because my eye sight isn't as good as the camera… or maybe its just the flash being a little too overwhelming.

Basing has been something I've needed to figure out ever since getting into 15mm… for 28mm I always went with a "gravel" look with some clumps of vegetation and it seemed to work, but I don't think the gravel was small enough to work with 15mm. I've generally just been painting all bases a light brown or green color (even some grey) so that they can pass as "based" until I come up with a solution.

My issue isn't so much that I don't know what to base them with but that I don't know how I want to base them… I often play on different surfaces with different terrain (everything from the green battle mat featured in the 5150 SA batrep to orange, brown, or tan bedsheets) and I don't want my figures stuck in one setting. The worst would be having something too earthy as the base for miniatures that are used in a space ship interior scenario…

But on the other hand I think bases really complete miniatures so I'm somewhat frustrated with the whole issue.
