Any one got a scenario for this please? |

Isn't that just a matter of reading accounts of the battle, getting the Anglo-Egyptian OBs and estimates of the Mahdist forces, and working from there? I'd look at GW Steevens' "With Kitchener to Khartum" (sic)for an eye-witness correspondent's account (all a bit purple-prosy, as you'd expect). |

Indeed, I'm scouring the internet for articles and books but did wonder if any one else had done it as I couldn't find any posts regarding scenarios and only one AAR from a campaign based around it on the internet. Ta for the heads-up on the book though, I shall give it a go. |

Hi, Stuart Asquiths' scenario book "Warfare in Egypt and the Sudan" has that scenario in it. The book is available from 'On Military Matters'. I have it and it is a great source of information and scenarios. Tom D |

I did a scenario titled "Cavalry Action on the Atbara" for my Victoria's Battles Rules back in 2002. The scenario looks at the Egyptian recon of Mahmud''s Zariba and the Madist mounted attack. Written as a rules based scenario but might be of use. |

Thought I would let you know there is a new set of rules out called For Queen and Planet. The core rules have a very nice set of Scenarios around the First Sudanese War (The Mahdi's Revolt). It also has a number of defined troop types that would still apply during the Atbara battle of the Second Sudan War. You can find some good data on troops and the battle ground at this site: link You can purchase the rules at Wargames Vault: link Between the rules and the battle site you should be able to define the OB and create the scenario. If you have questions please go to our Facebook page and ask any questions you might have: link Thanks, Tom First Command Wargames |
