I am just starting my 6mm WWII North African desert crossfire collection and was after so e basic colours for painting both British 8th army and DAK. I have looked at the painting guides on FoW website but I think they are over complicated for both my painting skill and model size. |

This is what I do for my 10mm and 28mm figs The OP was asking about painting 6mm – so I guess he's more interested in vehicle colours than infantry. |

Cheers All, they are great to start with. It is for both infantry and a few vehicles. CF is more infantry bias but in 6mm who can resist having plenty of armour on the table |

Go brown helmets with DAK and Light with 8th Army. That is all you can see in 6mm. :) |

I used the Tamiya spray for my DAK vehicles, then washed with GW 'Mud' – finally a drybrush/highlight with a very pale tan colour (I actually used one of the shades from the Baccus Basing Kit) – for the Brits I started with a spray of the very light sand colour (I think it was an Armorfast spray) then any caunter, then a wash with very thin black, and a drybrush/highlight with a neutral light gray. Pictures of my DAK stuff is on my blog at: link And here's how the 'Diana' turned out:
