Dear All,

I was really thrilled when my friend Kawe Weissi-Zadeh of Westfalia Miniatures westfaliaminiatures.com
sent me some specially made commemorative dice he had left over from a convention:

And I'm thinking of doing the same thing for my group's Waterloo 200 project – But I need some design ideas!

I am thinking of getting 3 sets designed, Anglo-Netherlands, French and Prussian.

Now the Prussian ones would be easy – just pinch Kawe's idea, substituting '1815' for '1813'…

And the French one is fairly easy too – French Blue of course, and with an Imperial Eagle logo and '1815'

But what of the Anglo-Dutch dice – what colour, and what logo, could summarise such a diverse and multicoloured army?

Red, I think.
Perhaps a British Lion, doubles for the Lion on the mound.

Red with a Belgic shako…..also called the "Waterloo shako"

Sounds like a grand idea..maybe the profile of the Duke might be OK?

Would you be able to fit his nose on in profile?

Red for British I think. The image of Victory on the Waterloo medal would be good, but probably too complicated. Or maybe a Wellington boot :-). The Lion is a good suggestion too.

Surely we should also have some Orange dice for the Dutch allies.

I will want a set of each please…

I am sure that a certain author would want something like "1815 – The German Victory" on the dice.

How about something more generic, like an artillery wheel?

Supercilius Maximus16 Aug 2013 11:15 a.m. PST

How about a humbug?

Red dice for the British.

Need something simple… a Lion, its very British and half linked to the lion monument. Not particulary relevant to the battle though.

Brunswicker dice would be easy. Black with a skull and crossed bones..

Thanks Guys – the Lion motif is a great idea, as its relevant to all nationalities who are now commemorated by the Lion mound, as you said.

Something simple and stylised like the recent British lions Aussie tour logo. In fact that might be the go since our game will be held in 'Stralia. Now to find some die manufacturers!:

Hah, I was thinking about exactly the same thing, and I was pondering with either Napoleons hat, a french eagle, or the simply the 'N' with laurel. Obviously in golden color on a dark blue dice.

Not quite sure about the brits… a red dice with a lot of lace maybe? :--)
