and I left my Elven dagger at home. I'm hoping the TMP family can help me out. I'm looking for a good, realistic spider mini. I want something that isn't hairy, like it was based on a tarantula, and hopefully without a bloated abdomen. Hopefully bigger than 70mm front to back. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

"Shhh. Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting spwiders." Reaper has a few. Some may even fit your criteria. link Heresy Miniatures has a nice one, which apparently spans a CD. link |

You might try your local dollar/pound/whatever your currency is bargain store. Ours already has some of the Halloween stuff out, and we picked up some spiders there the other day. Doug |

How to make webs for your spiders: I recently experimented with making spider webs for use with mini's gaming, and RPG's. I used a Hot Glue Gun to 'paint' the form on a sheet of parchment paper (the cooking variety), as the Hot Glue will not stick to it. NOTE: the Hot Glue will pick up any pencil marks, so do not make guidelines to trace over, with pencil, as it will be visible on the web, when you remove it from the paper; wax paper does not work -- the Hot Glue sticks, and it will tear. They peeled off of the parchment paper quite easily, and I re-used the same paper several times, without issue. They are crude, even though I used a small-tipped Hot Glue Gun. I just made irregular circles, which I bisected, repeatedly, to form the shape (webs are never uniform, so don't try to make a bulls-eye
). Then I painted craft paint, Pearlescent Medium, directly on the 'strands', to give it a bit of a silky shimmer. I remembered how Shelob webbed up Frodo Baggins, while he was still alive
My goal was to be able to place a victim figure ("Is he still alive?
"), on a square stand, within the webs, which I hope to hold up between some model trees -- this will force the players to avoid torching the webs, and killing the wounded victims, as well as any surviving, flame-wounded spiders. >;-) Use, abuse, ignore. Cheers! |

I use soft plastic, toy spiders for my games. Not as big as you want (about 1.5 -2 times the size of a 25mm/28mm Hunan figure), but affordable, nice looking without painting, and small enough to place on my webs
Cheers! |

Sgt. Slag: I just used Halloween cobwebs and applied them to the bases.
The yellow spiders are Reaper, but too small for the OP's needs. Reaper does make some non-hairy spiders though. |

How much bigger than 70 mm? This one's around 180 mm, but I'm sure that includes the legs.

Thanks, folks. Several of these suggestions may fit the bill for what I'm looking for. And that SafariLtd one
the abdomen may be a bit too round for my purposes, but how can you go wrong with 180mm? That definitely ought to scare the bejesus out of any 25mm-28mm adventurer! |

At 180mm, you are looking at Lolth, herself, in the flesh
That, or her spaceship. ;-) |

I'm no arachnophobe, but that picture just isn't cool. |

I'm no arachnophobe, but that picture just isn't cool. I am something of an arachnophobe, and it's way UNcool, but in a good way. Doug |
