Well here is the conundrum:
I love the miniatures for both these games,
but am not completely sold on either system
(they both scratch different itches, mechanically speaking).

Ideally, I'd like to find "One System to Rule them All" (as do we All, am I right?)
but, barring a sudden Conversion experience to something (candidates I am considering so far are either
the 2-Hour wargame systems (or possibly Song Of Blades & wotever),
I am thinking about cross-converting stats between Malifaux & Helldorado.

Has anyone done anything along these lines….?
Malifaux is basically a card game, which is fine but …m'eh)
and Helldorado is mechanically wobbly and basically nobody plays it locally.
I like Chain Reaction theoretically……..

Does anyone have any experience and/ or advice on what to do?
I really don't want to take the time brainstorming stat conversions,
as I barely have time to do any Painting as it is….
But:

It's a long term project….
Ideally: I'd also like to bring in my WarmaHordes collection,
and also my Warlord of Mars stuff from TinMan and Bronze age minis…and my 40K Praetorian Guard…
So, Steam-Techie quasi-Victoriana Horror.

I faer I may end up having to write a set of rules that does what i want it to:
Easy stats for gang/ warbands/squads that still has interesting gameplay, not too generic,
but not too rules-fiddly, but still playable.

Yeah I know…
singing: "To Dream, the Impossible dream….!"

What the heck is that supposed to mean?

What makes Malifaux interesting and different is the ability to change your "die roll" to something you KNOW will be better.

When testing ideas for WarmaHordes, I know that the only dice that get rolled are location dice. Otherwise the testers just use average results of 7 (or sometimes 5).

I haven't played Hell Dorado yet, even though I have a lot of Saracens.

You're right, it would be cool to have a single ruleset that was relatively easy to port minis/stats into.

Actually, I've heard it a lot, though I've never found the play interesting enough to bother figuring it out.

It doesn't mean much of anything, as near as I can tell.
It is simply the response I get whenever I try and get anyone to play a game of Malifaux with me.
I'd be perfectly happy porting my Saracens and Immortals from HellDorado into Malifaux, personally.

I just haven't played the game enough to feel comfortable creating something from scratch, i suppose.
I suspect I can use Ten Thunders stats and make a try with it.
I don't have a bias against Malifaux per se: I just want to use my HellDorado miniatures, too!
Getting other people to play with… Well, that's always the issue around here.

That's bizarre. Half of what makes Malifaux a great game is the varied setting and model abilities, and the other half is the way the card mechanics are integrated into the game to allow both random chance and good planning skills a place in your tactics. Why anyone would refuse to play based on it using dice instead of cards is beyond me. They're a major selling point, not a flaw.

Volstagg Vanir31 Jul 2013 8:11 p.m. PST

I don't disagree, but people are bizarre.

Any ideas on importing models into Malifaux?
Does anyone know if it's possible to order, say:
Just the cards for the 10 Thunders faction so I can use my Immortals?
Any Ideas on how to port in the Saracens or the ' Lost' factions?

Thematically, I wouldn't have thought the "Earthly" factions would be suitable, what with Malifaux being set roughly 250 years after Hell Dorado.

As for making up stats, there doesn't seem to be any guielines or rules of thumb.

Round here, the Malifaux scene is entirely driven by "organised play", like Warmachine; there's no interest in making up your own units, and any attempt to do so would likely be shouted down as trying to cheat or "break the game".

If you find a third way, I'd be interested; I've been on the lookout for a generic fantasy skirmish game which will allow me to use my Malifaux, Hell Dorado, Confrontation, Mordheim and Warmachine minis in for a while now.

I always thought Chain Reaction was modern / sci fi. If it works for fantasy too, it might be worth a look.

I will have to warn you that most of the Helldorado figs are 'thin and smaller' compared to the Malifoux ones.
BTW, I liked the Helldorado rules, but you are right. Nobody plays it.
