One of my many projects that I enjoy is participating in the club's "Not Quite The Seven Years War" Imagi-Nations project. In the project, club member's build their own Imagi-nation armies using homecast 40mm Prince August figures. My nation is North Polenburg, and over the years I have collected a large force of two Infantry Regiments, one Dragoon Regiment, two cannon and crew, and various company level units including Engineers, Militia, and Hussars. I recently posted a battle report on my blog that those who are interested can check out if they wish:

So, I got in my mind earlier this year, that it might be cool to start a new project re-createing the 40mm Not Quite Seven Years War (NQSYW) project in 10mm, with the goal to use the 10mm units with our "Look, Sarge, No Charts" (LSNC) rules, where each base equals a regiment. This way, I wouldn't be limited to commanding not much more than a brigade on the table due to the limits of the 40mm single based figures. With 10mm figures, and each base equalling a regiment, it is the norm in LSNC for players to control a division. I could see recreating the whole North Polenburg Army at this scale! (Insert maniacal laughter grin)
As the saying goes in our club, "Any project worth doing in one scale, is worth doing in multiple scales." grin

Anyway, I thought I'd share some pictures of the the big units with their little brothers.

Interesting idea – nice work! I must confess to having a few periods with multiple scales – for example, ACW in 54mm, 25mm, 15mm and 6mm – although my SYW Imagination is only in 28mm

Good luck on your project. I find it almost impossible to go back to the smaller scales after playing with large figures.

Thanks guys!

I like both the large and small sizes for the two totally different visual effects you get on the tabletop.

I like your style Sir, and your club's motto!

(My 18th C. armies come in 15 and 30mm, for much the same reasons.
EDIT: Having seen your units, I'm getting tempted by 10mm now)

Thanks!
Let yourself be tempted! grin

I have become a real fan of 10mm over the past few years. To me 15mm just never quite looked "massed" enough, and 6mm is oftern too small (for my eyes anyway) to see what figures actually are without holding them up to your face.
To me, 10mm offers the perfect middle ground. You can really get the look of massed battles, and you can still see what the troops are at most normal tabletop viewing distances.

Excellent idea! I'm doing my ImagiNation in 30mm and 6mm :)
