The Lizardmen have never really appealed to me. Apart from having a few models to use as those things that Elric fought in Sailor on the Seas of Fate I've never been all that interested.

They do have some cool stuff, but as far as an army goes, I've not been very tempted.

That being said the new releases are pretty awesome, especially the dinosaur ones.

The Bastiladon would be great for all kinds of pulp games and would make a fantastic Class VI Kaiju for doing Pacific Rim games. The thing looks amazing.

The Ark of Sotek version would be pretty neat for some type of beastie for pulp games, especially if the intrepid hero hates snakes.

Also the price is pretty good too, at least in the US. $60 USD for a model that size with that level of detail is fantastic.

Another one is the Carnosaur, Troglodon. Especially the Troglodon version would also make a fantastic Gian Alien Monster. At $85 USD it is a little more pricey but still not a bad price at all for what you are getting.

I'm tempted to get some and fight them with my Tau Crisis suits in a 6mm city.

While not as useful for giant monster gaming the Terradons/Ripperdactyls would also work great for pulp games. Having plastic flying dinosaurs is far superior to any metal ones as you won't have them damaged falling over.

I don't know if I'm so keep on the giant weights the one version is carrying but I suppose you could clip them off and put Nazis on the back instead of the skinks or whatever you want.

The characters don't really do much for me but the idea of those stone thrones being finecast is much more appealing than the old metal ones.

Not anything that is going to get me into doing Lizarmen but it might get me into buying some of those figures and doing a Pacific Rim game.

Sorry, just picked myself up after seeing its £121.00 GBP for one of the units!!!

fullerena30 Jul 2013 2:27 a.m. PST

That dinosaur with a poisonous snake dispenser on its back is incredible. I like the venusaur version too.

The £121.00 GBP thing is one of their terrible (no-discount) bundles, by the way.

At that price I want to be able to extract it's DNA and breed it.

I agree, pretty cool models. Lots of modification ideas, too.

Thank god for 15mm, can buy a whole army for the price of 1 unit.

Angel Barracks30 Jul 2013 5:53 a.m. PST

Awwww this was posted on the 6mm board. There is no 6mm here.
I was tricked… So sad.

Angel barracks just leave off the riders and use them as Kaiju in 6mm :)….of course toy plastic dinos might be cheaper

MIGHT?!?

;->=

I've done a little mix-and-match with the older lizard folk and some other things that almost work.

I tried some Necromuncan arms on Saurans. Never glued and painted, but looked like they could work. Skinks couldn't hurt with different arms!

But finding the right ones…

6mm Pacific Rim.
OK it's a strech but better than being tricked…..

Pictors Studio30 Jul 2013 7:54 a.m. PST

I plan on using them for 6mm. I'll probably get the Bastiladon and make it up without anything on its back. The Troglodon I'll probably get afterwards at some point. Both would make pretty sweet giant monsters at that scale.

Lion in the Stars30 Jul 2013 9:07 a.m. PST

I'm considering adding them to my collection of unholy critters (WarmaHordes Skorne monsters)

Those actually look pretty awesome, especially the Solar Engine version.

Silvius Maximus30 Jul 2013 1:34 p.m. PST

Try Papo's dinosaurs, they are really amazing and are scaling well.

I have a soft spot for lizardmen. Fantasy and Sci-fi. I also took the opportunity to grab the one GW lizard model I've been eying since I was twelve. Kroq-Gar and his Carnosaur. Sadly, in finecast, but the one I got didn't have any problems aside from the Carnosaur having a minorly warped leg and needing a little gap filling on one of the arms. Pleasantly surprised.

Doubt I will be starting a lizard army any time soon though….

J Womack 9430 Jul 2013 4:33 p.m. PST

I like the models, but… I'll wait until I can get them less expensively on the internet. Before they become incredibly expensive on eBay.

ErikMB31 Jul 2013 1:50 p.m. PST

No way I'm paying that much for a model. I cannot believe that some of the $15 USD double packs are now $50 USD in resin.

Bye bye, GW….

Krede7701 Aug 2013 4:03 a.m. PST

Even though i have a much more money to spend on hobby stuff than i did twenty + years ago when i started collecting miniatures. Prices will keep me from starting up any gw based army again. No worries, lots of alternatives out there now.

Pictors Studio03 Aug 2013 11:52 p.m. PST

"No way I'm paying that much for a model. "

For a model as big as that, $60 USD is a pretty damn good price.

DLIinVSF04 Aug 2013 3:06 a.m. PST

Two or three years after the sales hype, second hand on fleebay or at second hand sales sites. No point complaining at GW they have been taking the p*** when it comes to prices for years now.Nothing new,the market however is bigger and a different creature now.Lots of other companies out their, some equal to GW and some better in products.

Now you have the new machines coming in its going to open up things even more.Well done to GW's sculpters nice looking models.HaHa to GW management and marketing you'll not get me back into your trap.No matter what cheese you put out!:)

Hazkal04 Aug 2013 10:02 a.m. PST

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but I really, really don't like these models. The anatomy of them is just so… off.

Eli Arndt04 Aug 2013 6:45 p.m. PST

What is so off on the anatomy?

-Eli

With the Bastiladon, the scales on top are too smooth and end in unnaturally straight lines; the club tail is ugly and it has weird scales over its forelegs.

With the Stegadon, its back hip is too high compared with the rest of its body, which means its tail doesn't seem to follow the line of its spine.

Before anyone jumps on me – I actually quite like the Skink priest on palanquin.

Shadowdragon11 Aug 2013 9:14 p.m. PST

Actually $60 USD is pretty high for something like that. And $1,000 USD for one standard sized army, yea I don't think so. Screw GW, I'm sticking with Privateer, Mantic, and Reaper, you know, companies that actually know what they're doing.
