I've been thinking about doing something Toy Soldier style in 25mmm or 30mm. Has anyone purchased the re-released Scruby figures from Historifigs? Am I in for pleasant nostalgia, or more flash than figure?

Not sure flash is as much of a problem as is lack of detail. I have read others have gotten N scale from them and they were cast fine but not up to the standards of today in sculpting quality. But I hear you, I have nostalgia for some older figure lines too such as Heritage 15mm Napoleonics.

The flash on figures shipped will always less than it was with the figures I used to purchase from Scruby (way back when).

In some cases we have created new molds (using original masters/patterns). In other cases we are still using older production molds.

Our plan is to re-mold every range, but of course that costs money, so we are remolding as we can. One thing we have been doing is to remold figures as they are ordered. For example: we had a customer wanting to rebuild the armies he once had all those years ago. He sent a list of the figures he would be wanting and we set many of those to the head of the remold list. Since we make our own molds, mold cost isn't a huge factor, so it doesn't take a very big order to cover the cost of a new mold.

The 25mm and 30mm have more detail then the N-gauge ranges. Which scale is better – well that is a personal preference thing. For some periods I prefer the 25mm and others the 30mm and for Napoleonic I prefer the 20mm (~1/87).

Anyhow, the figures won't be flashy and if we know what you want, we can likely replace any molds in serious need of replacement.

HistoriFigs, I can't see 20mm Napoleonics listed on your website, have I missed something?

Dave Wargamer: The 20mm Napoleonic are undergoing re-molding, and not listed directly on the website.

This will give you a listing of the 20mm Napoleonic figures. I can point you at some pictures or even send you a few sample if you would like.

As for the remold project, we've been jumping around a bit to accommodate requests. More info on the remolding can be found on tabletoptalk.com, just search for 20mm Napoleonic

Thanks HistoriFigs, I found your Picasa album for the 20s – very neat, I see what you mean.
