We had an excellent all day game at the club last Saturday pitting British troops against the Taliban.

The scenario involved a British patrol setting out from its base with the intention of capturing a top Taliban commander believed to be hiding in the area. The patrol had an Afghan interpreter with them in order to interrogate the locals. To complicate things intelligence already gained suggested IEDs had been prepared. To help detect these the patrol had mine detectors and a Military dog team also.

To further complicate matters a Chinook with a company of troops on board, together with a civilian TV camera team, was due in under Apache escort. In addition a resupply convoy was also due in by road escorted by Mastiffs and WIMICs and would pass through an ANA checkpoint at the opposite end of the village. Intelligence also suggested up to 200 Taliban in the area.

A report of the game can be found on Carl's Blog here-

Hope you enjoy the report as much as we enjoyed playing the game.

Very impressive set up and a great read.

Which rules did you use?

Hi Jim. We used Contact but increased the ranges as we feel those in the rules aren't realistic for the scale. Glad you liked the report.
Cheers

Mullah Omar is alive and well and running a bingo hall in Edinburgh.

Got one in Newcastle too, owns a kebab shop.

Good to see he's getting a little press, and attention, even if only in a wargame, since others seem to want to ignore him.

Awesome looking game.

I've seen him delivering eggs and milk to my works in his little Taliban milk float.

Don't hear much about Mullah Omar … he's probably keeping a very low profile as is AQ's 2IC Alzarhiri (not sure if I spelled that right ?!) … Looks like a good game. Nice job on the terrain and figures. And I'd hope if either of those two thugs are clearly ID'd, they'd join their bro UBL at the bottom of the sea. And they know the US/NATO is generally pulling out in the near future. So if they are in 'stan, they will bide their time. Of course there will always be drones …

I suspect he's living comfortably in Pakistan (or Iran or Egypt now), though possibly in a different zipcode than Osama was.

Ever noticed that you don't see Mullah Omar and Brian Blessed in the same photograph?

Pretty impressive looking game and photos

I saw on CCN today that good intel believes the AQ's 2IC, Alzarhiri is in Pakistan … no real surprise there … And again, I think Mullah O is most likely in deep cover hiding in Afghanistan … hope we whack'm both eventually …

The more we can get the better the world will be.

Mullah Omar (disguised as a Kamikaze pilot, but I spotted the beard) sank my aircraft carrier at the Claymore show today.
