Does anyone know how the Natal Carbineers and Natal Mounted Police would have looked in 1899? Did their appearance change at all during the war?

Thanks

Bretwalda,

I am not sure about the Natal Mounted Police, butn the Carabineers were in khaki, with a slouch hat. The leather equipment was different from the British style and included a bandolier and a waist belt with a series of smaller ammo pouches. I hope this helps.

Oops. Forgot, they did not wear puttees, they wore shoes and leather gaiters.

Bretwalda,

It appears that the Natal Mounted Police wore khaki uniforms and Wolsley helmets with a blue pagri and brown South African pattern leather equipment and boots
