I know there are TONS of other rule sets you might feel inclined to recommend,
But has anyone given LOTOW specifically a try for space cowboy-type games? If so, how did it go? Got pics of the game? Thanks, Dan TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link |

No, I've not tried them specifically, but it should work fine. I have used other Old West rules for "space cowboys" quite happily. |

I'd never thought about that either, but it might work pretty well. If I were going to do it I'd probably modify the in the way rolls a bit or at least modify what terrain got in the way. |

I dont think a tumbleweed could deflect a lazer blast, so no. There are Much better rulesets for it. |

Given the strong character nature of the system it would be an excellent fit. You'd have to create new tables, skills, posses and so forth but for dedicated Firefly players it would be awesome. |

Why not take LOTOW and mix it with the more enjoyable original Necromunda set
and come up with a hybrid? (absolutely can't stand some of the LOTR functions included in LOTOW). If you want more story driven stuff, I'd recommend Gutshot personally (more RPG-ish in nature). |

The LotR family of rules does a good job of representing heroic inspiration. In Necromunda, the leader is usually better at fighting and staying in the fight than his fellows, but not at actually inspiring them. |

I can't stand the way hand to hand combat is handled in LOTOW, nor do I like the altered damage/strength tables (a Strength 4 weapon serves absolutely no benefit over a Strength 3 weapon against your average enemy etc.). They just took something good and mussed it. (In my opinion). I agree, like all GW products, Necromunda and the like (LOTOW included) concentrated a bit too much on hero creation. We found in LOTOW that within a game or two, you'd have an all-conquering character or two in your posse, and it immediately unbalanced everything. That's actually why I abandoned the game – some silly rules, and I didn't like the campaign flow. |

Wow, guys, check out this blast from the past: YouTube link YouTube link YouTube link Actually this was just about a year ago. Nonetheless, its really nice to see that there are people who are still playing LOTOW and enjoying it. However, I wonder how many have actually given the SF crossover a try. In all these years, has anyone here even seen an SF-LOTOW crossover attempted since this topic was last discussed? Dan TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link |

I did about 4 or 5 years ago and it worked well. I made some slight modifications for Reevers, flying slides, etc. The weapons I pretty much kept the same although slightly extened. We had some fun games. I will try to see if I can find my modified cheat sheets. edit: we used 28mm |

I've dug through my old boxes of rules and notes but unfortunately I can't find them. I'm sorry but if they ever turn up I'll let you know. |
