Where else do you go besides TMP for your wargaming needs?
Which ones do you go to the most often and which are the best; and why?

I like the Flames of War website because I can get historical articles. I don't play FoW as much as I would like to though.

I also go to the DBA Fanaticus website because there is so much about painting and ancients/medievals gaming there.

I also go to fieldofglory.com as these are the rules I play ancients most often with.

sammustafa.com is a favorite because I like his rules systems (particularly Might and Reason and Lasalle)

From time to time, I check out Epic 40K related sites as well.

Then there are the various Yahoo Groups that I catch….

Anyone know of a good site that is miniature wargaming specific?

Tabletop Gaming News has become my primary news site. Starship Gaming News is still a good place to check for space gaming developments and inspiration. I read a number of individual company sites and blogs regularly, and there are several podcasts I listen to.

Starship Combat News: star-ranger.com/Home.htm

And really, that's about it. Most other places, if I go there it's from a link here.

Sam Mustafa's site and Tabletop Gaming.

I pretty much live on the World of Warcraft forums when I am not actively playing the game. Which has nothing to do with miniatures gaming, sadly. But wargaming is on the backburner of my life right now, so…

Linkies please.

CorSecEng07 Jul 2013 8:49 p.m. PST

Also of note is that WWPD has branched out and has several sites dedicated to non-FOW stuff.

tabletopgamingnews.com
For news.

boardgamegeek.com
For board games.

fortressat.com
For board games discussion.

fanaticus.org
For HOTT.

And a local, Indonesian board gaming forum.

I go for BoardGameGeek most often for research due to its amazing database. For discussion, I much prefer TMP and Fortress AT.

Will our society be taken over by one less MMOPRG focused? It would be like the barbarians conquering Rome.

I was playing a medieval type fantasy game which stretched across continents. You could build fleets, take cities, and attack/defend in real time. While on holiday in Malaysia I was attacked by a faction and ended up glued to the hotel computers for three days fending off attacks. It was taking up too much of my time so I declined to start a "new world" when my faction won. I can't even remember the name of the game now.

Tabletop Gaming News is interesting… bookmarked!

I occasionally browse here:

miniaturewargaming.com

Ironwolf07 Jul 2013 11:15 p.m. PST

TMP is my main gaming source. I check TMP a couple times a day.

I also check table top gaming news once or twice a week.

Timmo uk07 Jul 2013 11:52 p.m. PST

WD3 and TMP are my main two sites.

I also visit and occasionally post on:

Tally Ho!

Frothers Did It And Ran Away08 Jul 2013 2:22 a.m. PST

Thanks to mobile internet I visit TMP far more often than is either necessary or healthy I suspect. I also visit The Guild and Lead Adventure from time to time for eye-candy and Frothers once in a blue moon as well as PSR to keep up to date with 1/72 news.

Oh, and YSDC for Call of Cthulhu – yog-sothoth.com

For forums I visit only TMP regularly (okay, hourly, I admit it!), and then I have a ton of blogs I follow on feedly.

brevior est vita08 Jul 2013 4:09 a.m. PST

Along with TMP, I frequent the following wargaming sites:

tabletopgamingnews.com for general news;

wd3.eu/wd3 for entertaining discussion and all-round quirkiness;

boardgamegeek.com for boardgaming news and discussion;

And for my favorite rule set, Hail Caesar:

Mostly Manufacturer sites these days. Use to follow over 200 yahoo groups but most are very much DOA. I do follow several blogs off my blog list, and posting directly off TMP. Other than that some game forums. Right now I am on Board Game Geeks, A Few Maneuvers, and Fantasy Flight Games X-Wing forums. When a new set of rules comes out or I am very much interested in a topic I will research the heck out of it and find all the sites associated with the period or topic. Bookmark everything and make a folder for the links. Check them on a semi-regular basis.

With respect to The Editor, I do not wish to answer the question as I would not like to hurt his feelings.

I don't think it polite to use his hospitality and vacilities to organise another party.

(Yes, I am a creep looking for a free invitation to The Lounge …no pressure, Bill. Anytime this week is fine)

Tommy2008 Jul 2013 7:18 a.m. PST

My morning routine includes about two dozen Yahoo Groups, TMP, Lead Adventure Forum and BoardgameGeek in that order.

Google Plus. I created a Gaming Circle and I have about 600 people in it plus several communities I follow all dedicated to miniatures. I see there a lot of stuff I don't see here (in spite of the best efforts of Tango01!

I have a mix of RPG, Fantasy, Scifi, Boardgamers and historical miniatures types there. It's very nice. TMP retains a unique flavor though and I've been coming to this site for 17 years so its not a habit I'm going to break without intervention or excessive dog housing. :-)

Knowing why people go elsewhere can help anyone who runs a business or provides a service.

ancientsgamer08 Jul 2013 9:36 a.m. PST

Not trying to steer people elsewhere. TMP is where I go to first, daily and most often. Just trying to see what else is out there…

Judge Doug08 Jul 2013 11:54 a.m. PST

I check Dakka several times per day, especially the News & Rumors forum.

Frothers, LAF, TMP in that order on a daily basis. Used to be Frothers, TMP, LAF but too much waffle to try and wade through to find the interesting stuff now on here, a lot of good stuff I've probably missed due to it :-(
