Do you have any other hobbies besides wargaming ? Or working on a special pet project ? I'm currently having a 1/1 scale replica made of the Robot from the old 1927 B&W classic Metropolis. |

The Robot from Metropolis? Do share pictures. This time of year I take down the flinter and go for deer. Before the birth of my second daughter I did a little blacksmithing. Also dabbled in Kendo. These days I chase the kids around. A new spin on "chasing girls" ;-) |

I run a history club at the local high school and lift weights. And given some of my friends I dabble in a little psychology/counselling. |

"Do you have any other hobbies besides wargaming ?" I have a few :-) 1. Whickham Hermitage Garden (www.whickhamhermitagegarden.org.uk) - This community-based group are trying to resurrect a very old garden. It is our plan to bring 'life' back to this neglected piece of land and to make it available for anyone and everyone to use. If you click on "Our Project", I'm the guy standing under the trees. 2. TS Raleigh, Jarrow Sea Cadet Corps (no website yet) - This is one of the 400+ sea cadet units that exist in the UK. I'm on the committee for this unit and am responsible for obtaining money for the unit's projects. So far, I've raised the funds to create disabled access to our unit, and am in the process of raising £10k to buy two portable buildings (each 32ft by 40ft) and to convert them into classrooms and dormatories - I've raised £3k in 5 weeks. We expect to have the buildings bought and installed by the end of December, ready for fitting out in January. 3. I am a committee member for the Tyne Branch, Royal Naval Association, where I offer my input on matters relating to our branch. My pet project for the branch is to gain funding so that all 55 of us can visit HMS Victory next year for the 200th anniversay of the Battle of Trafalgar. 4. Less glamourous than the above, I dabble with my 3 home computers - upgrading, playing games, creating stationary for the 3 organisations above, etc. If it can be done with a PC, I'll do it. 5. For something completely different, I trawl around charity shops with the aim of spotting old military/history books at low-low prices. Over 90% of my home library came via charity shops. Thats it :-) |

I have some as well, some active, some less: weight lifting, jogging, swimming, free and scuba diving, computers building/fixing for friends and playing, knife throwing, archery, reading, studying French (my wife is one), and nowadays being obsessed by [TMP] Oh and playing with my son. Probaply forgot some, but I have only limited time working 7:30 to 16:00 Monday to Friday and occasional extra hours :) Johnny |

Chasing your kids is a hobby? They must not be teenagers yet. I go out in the workshop and make a lot of sawdust and mistakes. Occasionally, I even make a piece of furniture. |

I read. I work at the brewery. I play board and miniatures games. Now and then I sleep or have sex. With two wee beasties under 5 years old, that's about it. |

I swing my Katana practicing techniques and chopping various things in half everyday and go to a club to clobber people twice a week. |

I enjoy going to the pistol range and trying to hit the target decently - though with my eyesight, the side of the barn needs to be a bit bigger these days. And I just bought an Irish bouzouki and am bashing my way through some music books trying to get a feel for it. (I play guitar but this puppy has a nut about half the size of my jazz box - plays havoc with my ham fists!) |

Nothing exciting here. Hobby-wise, if I'm not painting or gaming, it's reading (SciFi, mysteries, historical fiction) or computer gaming.

Gaming and painting take up most of my hobby time. I also collect anime stuff and try to watch all that I can. I read a little and collect lots of music, lately mostly classical and anime soundtracks. If I could find anything else that sounds like Evanescence I would buy it but I mostly hate new rock music. Usually I paint or fiddle with my gaming books all day or buy stuff on line. I listen to the music while doing this and late at night watch anime to relax. I try to work in an hour or so of exercise sometime during the day. I know, life of a geek :) but at least I have one interest girls share...anime. |
Wargamer Blue | 23 Oct 2004 3:45 p.m. PST |
One day I want to build a model railway. I have been reading model railway magazines for years but I have never got around to actually doing it. Other than that, everything revolves around wargaming and reading military books. |

Oh heck yeah...when I'm not wargaming I clean figures. Yeah, and I also prime figures. Yeah, and sometimes I paint figures...(eyes rolling back in head). Oh yeah, and I read. And listen to music. While I am cleaning figures....(hehehehahaha) I'm okay now. I think I will go paint. |

I love Salsa (Latin) dancing. And am thinking about adding ballroom dancing next year. To be honest, I would rather go dancing than wargaming. I also write & dabble in watercolors. |

Well, my time seems ever taken by my job, but when I have time I put various amounts of energy into: role-playing with friends, reading, listening to music, playing drums and guitar, computer games, occasional bit of TV, and talking to people on internet forums. :) I used to paintball a bit, but at $100/day of play, give or take, I've pretty much stopped that. |
Goldwyrm | 23 Oct 2004 5:35 p.m. PST |
Other stuff I do for fun but never have enough time for include (in no particular order) SCA heavy weapon fighting, Brewing, Archery, Gardening, Woodworking, Shooting, Cooking, Wine Tasting, Fiddling around with Computer Hardware, Casino Gambling, Paintball, Oggling, Rock Concerts, Movies, Reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and Garage Sale Bargain hunting. |

Trying to learn watercolor for one thing. another thing is working with a local animal rescue organization for abandoned, surrendered pets. Right now I guess the rains mean the end of our fire season, so I won't get to work at an evacuation center until next year. Instead I've got really tough duty like talking people into adopting rabbits at our local Petco pet supply stores on Sundays - real tough duty! |

Work, gaming, and painting little men keep me pretty busy. Mostly I read, and spend too much time on the computer. I run Enfilade, our local historical minis convention. I have a new activity-driving my son the 100 miles or so to college and back. I've tried other hobbies, but miniature gaming is what I really love to do. Kevin |
Tom Bryant | 23 Oct 2004 10:23 p.m. PST |
Gee Whiz, gaming is kind of my number one right now. My "other hobbies" include in no specific order: Reading, Target shooting (pistol and rifle), woodworking, gardening (badly I'm afraid) and cooking. |
Flashman14 | 23 Oct 2004 10:42 p.m. PST |
In no particular order: Video games, reading, politics, movies and I play drums. And I wouldn't give up any of them ... |

Yay for drummers! Grr.. need a pm button, so as to not feel the urge to hijack threads... :) |

Hey, I play drums, too (30 years) and teach them as well (17 private students). However, recording and playing live are the ultimate! Well, unless no one shows up at your gig. |

I ride my 1968 British motorcycle, BSA's rock. I rock climb, hike, study edible wild plants, garden, cook and go to see punk rock bands play as often as possible. The rest of my time is spent working to support my games. |
Probert | 24 Oct 2004 8:57 a.m. PST |
I read alot (which most people in the minis hobby probably do as well), golf, fishing, softball, occasional shooting sports, I follow FSU football and MLB, I also tend to drink bourbon while I read (which makes it more fun), I enjoy cooking and grilling, which I get to do every day. |
