I posted on the inerwar board but forgot to crosspost. Anyone ever think about 1930's French Civil War or paint figures? I am interested in any background or faction thoughts? I think it can be much more interesting then ABCW. I found the following pictures of a game about half way down page anyone have any info on background or uniforms? link |

Interesting questions. I never imagined that a VFCW was playable. It could be a political minefield to discuss between French wargamers! but we are amongst intelligent people :-) What would the regular army have done? probably split into factions. A number of officers were royalists/conservative Catholics (especially in the cavalry, and in France the tanks are cavalry); but some others were not. Depending on the areas, a large part of the soldiers doing compulsory military service could have been influenced by antimilitarist ideas. Soldiers from urban/industrial areas could be left-influenced and those from rural areas right-influenced (although this is not always true, some areas had different political backgrounds!) Early 20th century "radicalism" (which then meant opposition to the influence of the Catholic Church) was still a strong political force; socialism/communism was growing. WWI veterans could enlist in different factions, some of them formed the basis of the "ligues fascistes" but other were leftists. |
