More specifically the south-eastern Suburbs. So I'm looking for a club to game with in the south-eastern PA region. My search has lead me here after a couple conversations pointed me towards TMP. I have two main problems I guess you could say: 1) I'm a teenager interested in Historics, which is pretty much impossible to get started among people my age and people who game historics that I have met so far end up pushing me away because of my age (maturity maybe, I don't know). Not too huge a problem, but one that I have noticed in my attempts so far. 2)I'm not the greatest at social contact (I'm partially doing this so I don't have to solo game my entire life), so getting in touch with people is difficult. So basically I'm looking for a group in the region that I don't have to travel 2 hours to get to, and will actually let me in. That's pretty much it, I can play most any era, rule set, or scale. I do prefer moderns, WW2, and Napoleonics though. Scale indifferent, but I like smaller scales (15mm and under, 20mm is fine but I have a distaste for 28's) Thanks for any help, and I mean ANY help. I'm pretty lost

That's cool! Thanks for the link. I'll have to check you guys out sometime. I notice you do a lot of stuff in 28mm/25mm, I guess that's fine with me but would you guys have figures? I don't own too many (correction, none) in that scale and for the most part the price is keeping me away. But, I'll take it up if need be |

Lot 'O figures. No worry there. |

Awesome, I think I'm pretty set. Not too bad a drive either, less than half an hour from me. Next time you hold something expect a socially awkward (well, I can't initiate conversations) teenager to come by and spectate (which is the most realistic depiction I can give) 'least I'm honest |

If you come down to the Jersey shore are this is another group there as well (out of your normal range I know – perhaps if heading to the shore for vacation anyway). We do historical gaming in all scales, 15mm and 28mm being common but I have a bunch of 6mm stuff as well. Heard good things about the South PA group as well, you should have a good time there. link |

"expect a socially awkward" Washout77, you just described me! my 13 year old daughter has reminded me for the past few years that I might be older than her. But she is more mature than I am. hahahah If you were in Illinois, you'd be more than welcome to game with us. Glad you were able to locate a good group there. |

Hahaha that's funny Ironwolf. Yeah, I wouldn't rule out Illinois, being in a military family I could be anywhere in the country next week for all I know. Proniakin, thanks for the tip. I actually played 40k up there a few times but never quite made it out for FoW or Bolt Action. |

All Philly gamers. We have a thriving community of gamers here in the Delaware valley. We play often at Showcase Comics. (Mike, the owner is a great supporter of the hobbies). We meet at Alternate Universes on Thursday nights. We have about 16 regulars and as many pop in/stop in guest. We run Gamedays at St. John's esp. Church about every six weeks. Right off of I-95 in Essington. We are aged anywhere from 65 to 8 years old and draw 25 to 35 gamers each gameday. We draw from North Jersey allthe way from Maryland. Play every era, system and run with "hot games" like Bolt Action. Good place to network. Small fee at the door, but we always give back to the group (like terrain purchases), or give to deserving organizations like the Lazzereto House. Local historic sites. We are not tournament driven. We play to lose, win, whatever. |

I'm a short hop over in Springfield, so that's an easy drive. Can you offer any more information? @Rotundo That sounds interesting. I used to drive up to Showcase for 40k a couple times, great group of people up there. Alternate Universes is a short 5 minute WALK from me, so I think I can make that. Is there somewhere I can go for more information on fees or dates? |

Mark; By the way, I am doing ACW as well as AWI re-enacting, so if you me need to "dress up" again, just give me a jingle. Looks like I'm NOT deploying, again, so I'll be around Pennsy for yet another year. Eric |
MadDrMark | 23 Jul 2013 2:51 p.m. PST |
I have a colleague who does ACW "historical re-enactment" (yeah, and I play with "action figures"), and he also teaches a whole ACW seminar, so we have that covered! But I'd love to have you visit my class again, if you at least agree to let me to treat you to lunch. And I'm glad you're remaining stateside! |

Hello Tim, It was good to finally catch up with you at our Day of Games. Glad you post this again since I met a few more Delaware Valley people aboard the Olympia and NJCON6. We are running club games down at Historicon this weekend but will return for some more fun events. I am in talks with an Air Museum down the shore and we may run some Korean War CY6 and Arab-Israeli War air combat. They also have Hueys and Aircobras so some Vietnam battles may have to break out. Please stay in touch. |
