I could have sworn that I read somewhere that on the D&D Classics website ( dndclassics.com ) will sell all of the supplements to all of different editions.

But that they would also sell 'updated' versions into any editions…
e.g. Play "Queen of the Demonweb Pits" with 4th edition stats.

Does anybody else remember them saying that?
Or am I only wishful thinking?

Thanks.

I don't remember that. Some of their "Encounters" have Classic and DND Next stats. Is that what you are remembering?

I don't remember that. Only that they would be selling the classics in PDF form.

Older editions are available in PDF and the 1st edition core books have been reprinted.

I agree with SonofThor and Joker on this one. Haven't heard about updated stats based on editions. Personally, I still prefer 1st edition AD&D but I don't play anymore, so who cares? ;-)

Hmm … I don't recall anything about universal stats, especially for a transition to 4th, which would be pretty difficult given that the nature of the game changed so much with that edition – not just the mechanics, but the focus on encounters versus adventures and so on.

However, maybe you're remembering the marketing of the current playtesting of "D&D Next" (i.e. 5th edition)? It's supposed to be a sort of ur-edition, in that they are evidently trying to pare things down to the basics and then add on various bits from other editions/playstyles with optional rules, and apparently their goal is to bring everybody back under one happy (TSR) roof. The playtest is open, and they have used updated AD&D 1e adventures for most of their playtesting packets (Keep on the Borderlands, Isle of Dread, Against the Slavelords).

Cheers,

Christopher

They have remade some of the classic adventures into 4th Edition versions (Queen of the Demonweb, for example), but these are separate from the originals. I've not heard of them producing one version, with stats for various editions of the game.

They did state that they would offer nearly all products produced for older versions, as downloadable PDF files. They did have many, many products available for 1st and 2nd Editions, prior to 4th Edition going on sale. As they drew near their release date, they pulled the PDF's for older versions. The new PDF's are better quality scans of older products, however, so this is a good thing.

There are two downsides to the new PDF's: they are rolling them out v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y; and, their prices have gone up quite a bit -- they were nearly all priced at $4.95 USD each, before, but now they can be upwards of $19 USD for a single item. Prior to 4th Edition's release, you could download each of the G-series modules (G1, G2, and G3) for $4.95 USD each, or you could download the GDQ super-module (seven separate modules combined: G1, G2, G3, D1, D2, D3, and Q1) for all of $4.95 USD

As long as they bring them all back, I will pay their price, if it is reasonable, for the remaining products I would like to collect. Cheers!
