Ever wondered what 'World War Z' might have been? The original ending is a lot different, much grimmer and leaves open the possibility of a sequel more than the final version they went with. This may have been an R-rated version because it sounded so baddass with Pitt as a zombie killer-extraordinaire.

Warning: There are spoilers in the article for those who haven't seen the movie.

I hope they release this 'alternate ending' in a directors-cut DVD release:

I saw the movie and it was lame. It wasn't even really a Zombie movie as the Zombies are more like 28 Days Latter. If you want Zombies watch Walking Dead. The linked ending would have been at least a WWZ. Hollywood sucks. I need to stop going to the theatre.

Duly noted. To each his own.

I saw it and thought it was fine. Kept the suspense up during most of the film.

I think the noises and mannerisms of the zombies was interesting and certainly added to the creepiness.

I went in knowing it wasn't going to be anything like the book so I was not upset about that. I could swear the WWZ book describes running zombies but I read it a while ago. I think the zombies piling on one another to get over a wall was a little overdone.

Personally if hollywood keeps making zombie movies I am fine with that.

And TWD will be back in a few months even though that is way too long a wait IMO.

I thought it was a good movie. I went in knowing it could only be a loose adaptation of the book, which really needs to be a HBO mini series.
And yes the will be a WW Z II.

I couldn't help noticing that the Z's would go around a terminally ill person, avoiding them at all costs, but had no hesitation about trying to go through/over a bus to get to the other side.

I have come to the conclusion, after years of extensive research (i.e. watching zombie flicks) that the Zombie Apocalypse requires moron-level humans to succeed. Even lower than our current people "in charge" and the sheeple they lead (and I'm being very broad in that statement).

If anyone had stopped to think about how the zombies "hunt" (and there were plenty of hints in the movie), Jerusalem would never have fallen (and the "plague" was over 10 days old, remember, so someone should have gotten his thumb out, like maybe the Mossad guy). Getting the to "cure" in the Cardiff WHO center would have been a cakewalk.

I liked the movie. Top 5 best zombie movie. The final act of the movie was actually the best part. How to get to B from A without dying. Plus I like a thinking man for a hero. Plus I really appreciated the fact that there was no Gore. I prefer a film leave that for your imagination.

Well, it was better than I thought it would be… Which is not saying much.
Still, I gave it 2/5.
Mr. Pitt's character was unbelievable to me.

Very happy myself!

I liked it, and I prefer slow zombies a la Walking Dead. The movie seemed to have more substance than the usual summer blockbuster. It didn't just run on explosions – though there were enough of those.

Did you have to head shot the zombies?

StarfuryXL525 Jun 2013 6:02 p.m. PST

It was mentioned in passing as the best way to put them down.

As a long time fan of zombie fiction, I can testify that the idea of "bad meat", I.e. the terminally Ill has been around for awhile.

One of the soldiers says head shots work but burning was even better.

I can't recall if they say the Z's in the movie are actually dead. Are they ?

Also what happened to the scientists at the WHO facility? The outbreak was only a week? old and some of them looked like they had been dead for ages ??

Well, they did mention some of the other parts of the book in dialogue. There is no way they could have made the book into a movie that anyone could have starred in. Like was mentioned above, a miniseries on HBO or the like would have made sense. Still, I liked it. They even used the correct codes we use here when we talk about zombie outbreaks. The big message was pay attention to the little things and don't just do what you think will work, but consider the other alternatives.

I had no qualms with any of it, including the way the "zombies" worked (they explain the use of the word as applied to the infected as something translated in a message from India). As the infection seemed to have a pretty immediate effect on the body, even the look of the WHO scientist was fine by me.

Oh, and we do have people that do Brad Pitt's job here. They are deployed to all the worst places all the time. I have a friend deployed to somewhere in Africa now for outbreak investigation and control.
