In the b/w photos of 528 the camo base looks very pale so I'd go with clay yellow, green & brown, same as the scheme on the repro 504 at Bovington. Interestingly the paperpanzer model shows red brown over yellow: link Nice view of the three colour scheme on the 562 model above. |

According to Hundleby and Strasheim, A7V 528 Hagen was overall Feldgrau in April 1918. A7V 504 Schnuck from the same Abteilung 2 was given a three colour camouflage scheme – red brown and clay yellow on Feldgrau. It is possible that Hagan was given a similar treatment before August 1918 but I don't have any evidence for this. It was noted in the same source that the camouflage paint was of poor quality, was applied thinly and wore off quickly. Robert |

There is a rather blurry picture of 528 prior to shipping England on the surviving bits of the landships site (click on it to enlarge) link You can see the outline of the camo pattern and given the colour differentiation between the upper and lower portions on the front plate, I'd say it is three colour. |

I have found three very clear photos of 528 Hagen taken at the time of capture. There is a definite three colour camouflage scheme, following on from Martin's description above. Robert |
