I was returning from Florida with the family and the tanks were on commercial carriers (I Think??). They were headed south on I-75 north of Knoxville, TN around 5pm Tuesday. At first I thought it was a Persian Gulf Bradley with side armor. Then I realized it was a German tank probably a Panzer IV with turret and hull schurzen. Could have been a Panzer III it was painted a lite tan. You have to remember I was going 75 mph one way and they were going about the same the other way. Behind it on another carrier was a T-34. Wonder if anyone had some idea what was going on?

I know they took some armor away from Ft. Knox and the Patton Museum to Ft. Benning, GA. But I thought that this was complete.

Maybe there is a reenactment going on down there somewhere.
A friend of mine was in a reenactment a few weeks ago and there was an actual 8-Rad German Armored Car, plus various other vehicles there.

I saw this on I-40 in Asheville NC.

Isn't the armor museum moving to ft Benning?

Someone needs to tell them to cut it out: the war's been over for ages.

That was a few years ago, hopefully the stuff had been moved there already.

That would have been the wrong way. To get to georgia from Tenn, they would head south! LOL!

It's a plot. Duck and cover.

Today's the day for strange road finds

Today I was driving to work heading north when what is coming up towards me in the other lane is the Batmobile (looked like the original) heading south

The Missus – who is the ultimate gearhead – explained it to me – turns out there is an eccentric millionaire just north of here with a huge car collection including a replica of the Batmobile

> Batmobile (looked like the original)

You mean the one from the 30s/40s? (just kidding). Roughly 20 years ago I was driving down the NJ Parkway and passed by the car as well. In MN I drove by the Oscar Meyer Wiener mobile (alas – it was not the large one)

There used to be an M8 Greyhound in Va Beach.
I saw an M2 Bradley on a transporter near Ft Hood in March.

I passed a convoy of 6 LAV's headed south from Quantico, probably headed to Fort AP Hill today on my way hone from work.

Oakridge has a festival this weekend with a WWII reenactment so that's a probable destination.

The Patton Museum's armor collection was moved just over a year ago to Ft. Benning. They hauled all of the equipment down the interstates, it took them two trips to move everything. The last I heard was that all of the equipment was sitting in a storage lot, exposed to the elements, a pity for some of the restored vehicles.
Last thing I saw on the interstate was a flatbed carrying an M88, going south on I-65. I figured it was headed to Anniston for rebuild (if they still do that there.)

I bought them on ebay. I hope the driver doesn't leave them on the porch if I'm not home.

I don't like the sound of this, call out the National Guard!

Hello???

Gang;

There are a couple of running Pz IIIs out there that could be re-enacting – I am not aware of any Pz IVs. I certainly "played" with a Hetzer, a 222 and a 251 at events. Anyone that thinks those light armour things are not downright scary when you only have a rifle with 30-06 AP ammo and hand grenades is just wrong!

We are stockpiling the redoubt in the east Tennessee mountains. The Oak Ridge show is just a cover. But don't tell anyone.

Didn't mean to take your name in vain, DuckanCover.

A T34, a MK IV and a Pershing walk into a bar…

A photo of the T34 in Tenn was recently posted by a local State Senator who is a retired General on Facebook. A real nice clear photo.
