So here is my modest proposal: everyone should buy IWI figs; I would argue that they are the most versatile troops you can get. Including the uniformed Irish Volunteers and those in mufti one could play (perhaps without your glasses): Spanish Civil War, Mexican Revolution and Cristero War, German Red Front/Freikorps, American gangsters, Hungarian uprising of 1956, Russian Civil War, Boer War, WWII partisans/underground, and, of course, VBCW. I'm not looking for any great argument but I can't think of any single range/era of figs that could be more versatile. |

What is IWI? I guess Inter-War
..? I actually game/collect figs for the Boer War, SCW, Mex Rev, Partisans and Gangsters. Not sure I can intermix those though. Thanks, John |

I have a bunch from Cannonfodder et al. I have yet to finish them and put on a game, though. |

I love the Musketeer figures for the IWI, and have had two separate collections that I've bought, painted and sold. The conflict like many civil wars, is just too nasty to game with any realism, and VBCW does nothing for me. |

Plus, your Normandy bocage, walls, fences, and other rural scenery will do double duty among the green fields of Ireland (or the fields of barley if you are feeling literary). |

Oh, ok. Yep, I am actually interested. Maybe it's due to my last name. I want to do it in 20mm. Probably using Liberation figs. Thanks, John |

Some of the figures carry Lee Enfields and British kit, which limits their range somewhat. But it is an "interesting" period. Not something you want to invest in long term, but the odd ambush and heroic last stand has some appeal. |

Yeah, some aspects of their kit would not fit every scenario, but in a pinch and mixed with a few other figs IWI make the perfect force multiplier. And the figs from Reiver carry what i like to call Rifles! Meaning they are clearly rifles but little else is clear about them. Their officers carry Pistols! Instead of clearly sculped types. OK for me and my bad eyes. The only other range more mix-able might be a generic Dark Ages warrior band. |

As much as I like the variety Reiver offers in their IWI range, their sculpts are so different from Musketeer I'm finding it very hard to mix them. I bought several sets hoping every time the problem wouldn't be so bad and I was disappointed every time. |

Well, for versatility it is hard to beat InterWar – generic infantry in khaki drill with a peaked cap can serve from China to Mexico and back again! Plus more recognizable units like the USMC or British regulars were also all over the place We mostly game Warlord era China but have also done South American and various other places – again all using the same troops |

I do as NY Irish suggests but stop at the VBCW. FreiKorps civilians show up in Dublin, Chicago, Madrid, Africa, China (at the mission station) and Cornwall. |
