Wondering whether the PzIVF2-J were all new builds or were some upgraded earlier versions, A-F1.
I ask as I keep seeing these earlier versions running around later in the war, admittedly in small numbers. Could nothing be done with them or did they get missed off the refit list somehow?

Some L24s were upgraded others left behind. I have seen them up until 45.

Many units were loathed to give up tanks for refits as they tended to disappear.

The retro fitted D in Bovington is a nice modelling subject.

To answer the question. Earlier models were updated but are still clearly early ausf modernised.

These girls can take a IVD and upgrade it to an F2, and further upgrade to an IVH.
