Why are the zombies moving so fast? I feel like I'm watching some old WWI newsreel footage of troops marching past the camera in fast motion. It just looks ridiculous to me. |

Because if they were moving slow it would become even more apparent to the viewer how bad the CGI looks on those ridiculous human wave zombie acrobat hordes. |

Zombies have moved fast since 28 days later. Was a pretty big step as prior to this they just shuffled
But I haven't seen world war z |

The funny thing is, in the book for WWZ the zombies didn't run. When the U. S. minitary is "re-training" after the troops get crushed early in the war, the drill sargents yell, "
.They are not in a hurry why are you?" |

Yeah, Fast zombies would seem to imply were screwed vs them. Rage zeds I understand. They aren't really dead and soon die off. But fast and dead zeds make no sense to me. |

Haven't see WWZ but my guess is the attempt to make zeds more sinister. |

I've only seen the trailer. It's going to hit the theaters on June 21st. |

Trying to compress nine hours of movie into 90 minutes? Is the audience suffering from ADHD if there aren't any great fireballs of gasoline every 45 seconds? |

what I heard was that the only reason Brad Pitt bought the book rights was that his kid loved the book. For all we know he never even read it. Pitty. Could have made a wonderful mini-series. Must e nice to say, hey my kid liked this book, buy the rights- hey I have the rights to this book, let me make a film of it- give me a massive pile of money. Thanks |

Blame it on '28 Days Later' and the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake. Now people thinks fast zombies = deadlier zombies. 'The Walking Dead' proves it wrong, but the cat's out of the bag. To be fair, the zombies in World War Z shamble slowly until they detect live humans, then they switch to fast mode. I'm going to see it on Friday. |

> 'The Walking Dead' proves it wrong Yes and no, keep an eye on those Walking Dead zombies, they REALLY move when needed. |

its one of the problems with all the new action movies. They have everything moving faster and faster so you can't tell real life from CGI. They have also gone more and more over the top with the pointless action and the Wow! factor and the stories have gotten dumber and dumber. |

I think the fast zombie works in well with the theme of them taking over the world so fast. It replicates the quickness of how a plague works. It also conveniently covers up the lack of detail needed for up close makeup needed on zombies from shows like the Walking Dead. I agree, this would have made a great mini series. I think it will be a suspect movie, but I will be first in line anyway. |

Im not even sure if they qualify as zombies. From what I've read in the reviews they exist only to infect and spread the species, so there's no eating everyone and everything in sight. Pretty much bite someone, infect them, and move on. Sounds very similar to 28 days later, but we'll see once the movie comes out. |

Fast zombies didn't start w/ 28 Days Later, they started with Return of the Living Dead, nearly 30 years ago. Walking Dead isn't the only "slow zombie" format that speeds them up as needed. The original Night of the Living Dead did it also. The cemetery zombie moved at nearly a run when it needed to. |

Slow zombies are really fast zombies pretending to be slow. |
| sgibson | 17 Jun 2013 8:16 p.m. PST |
I don't mind fast zombies, though in our convention games, the fast ones aren't dead yet, they're just infected. I do have a problem with zombies who are as fast as ants, who climb over each other to get to humans, and who make giant zombie pyramids to climb over the hundred foot high Israeli wall (as depicted in the trailer for the World War Z movie) If zombies are slow and shambling, I've got a chance. If they're fast, I'm dead, but others have a chance (they'll catch me after 100 feet). If they're ants, we're all dead

I'm considering doing a movie titled "Brad Pitt" which will have nothing to do with the actor Brad Pitt, pretty much the same way the movie World War Z has nothing to do with the book

The one portion of the book that I thought would have made for an interesting movie was the part with the Submarine. They could have used that as the basis of the movie plot (changed for the US, if they desired) and then threaded with them tracking the war as a whole while they battle on. |

I'm glad Hollywood producers don't read TMP comments, otherwise more movies like 'Dredd' and 'John Carter' would be made. Not that they're bad, they just won't turn a profit. |
| geekygamer | 18 Jun 2013 1:45 p.m. PST |
Great idea Coelacanth1938! Now we need to cast a heavy-set 14 year-old Latina with a club foot to play Brad and we are set. I am thinking I could be an overcoming prejudice & adversity/real wealth comes from inside kind of story. Oh and we need an animal, perhaps a marmot. To improve watchabity, we will make everyone move really fast
yeah, that will be kewel! |
| Cyclops | 18 Jun 2013 3:41 p.m. PST |
Dredd and John Carter would almost certainly have made healthy profits if the marketing of both hadn't been so badly mishandled. As for WWZ I'll catch it on Box Office. I think it'll be a fun movie, just not the movie I'd have liked it to be. |

Books that are both good and popular have been known to hit the screen more than once. Perhaps we'll get that miniseries in 10 yrs or so. |

I would be more concerned that there are between four and five billion Zacks more than why they are so fast in the movie. The tactics that Brooks works out for eradicating Zacks late in the book will not work with these movie zombies. Producers are way too much in love with CGI effects. The Zacks are fast faster fastest because the director said they are really, really fast. Too many directors substitute narrow escapes at the very last nano-second for drama. CGI in 3d and Fast Frames wears me out. Now if a Zack is walking around eating Brad Pitt's severed leg, now I am into the story. |
| 95thRegt | 21 Jun 2013 1:24 p.m. PST |
28 Days Later has NOTHING to do with zombies! They are infected with a rage virus, and eventually die anyway
Not seeing WWZ. Total crap! Bob |
| TigerJon | 21 Jun 2013 1:44 p.m. PST |
First of all, they're not real. Second, if they were imagine how much more dire the situation would be if they were fast movers. Maybe that's the point
