There seems to be a rather recent news item on PSC website listing their upcoming releases:

theplasticsoldiercompany.co.uk

For a summary:

- June: 15 mm and 1/72 M5 Stuarts
- July: 15 mm Cromwell, 1/72 M4A4 (comes with Firefly option)
- August: Sdkfz 251/D variants kit (four basic halftrack sprues plus conversion sprue which will contain the parts to make stummel, mortar, flamm and pioneer halftracks)
- September: 15 mm and 1/72 Churchills

M5 Stuarts are actually already available for pre-order.

Must say am enjoying their products so far. Finished a box of their 15mm M4A4s and currently working on a box of their 15mm 251/Ds. Have a box of their M3 Halftracks in 15mm as well.

Looking at the sprue its a shame so much goes to waste. I have no idea if it is economically feasible but would be nice if they put out sets so one could complete the unused variants in a box. The M5 looks prime for that.

You missed the 15mm IS-2 from your list….

I already have 9 of them but I may just have to buy another 10 at least.

Marc,

I was thinking the same thing on the large number of unused parts … looks like the lower hull is the only thing missing and you could make two tanks if you had it.

Need 1/72 US Heavy Weapons. Their 1/72 US Infantry box has no bazookas.

Looking at the sprue its a shame so much goes to waste.

I guess they could have tooled separate sets (sharing a lot of common components) for each of the three M5 variants provided, but on the other hand that would complicate logistics in the retailer end.

As for those planning on using the extra bits to construct something, notice that you only get one turret and one bow MG per kit. So if you scratch-build a spare lower hull and bow MG, you are still going to end up with a turretless hull. Luckily, turretless versions were used as recon vehicles, though this would require adding an extra MG, crew and perhaps some interior detail. Or alternatively, it could be modelled as a burned out wreck (with the turret blown off).

Speaking of jalopied vehicles, those who are not so much into converting might want to keep in mind that PSC has previously mentioned that they are going to make another Stuart-based kit that will contain parts to make M8 HMC and jalopied version of M5.

Those Stuarts are very welcome. Will pick up a box as soon as my local retailer has one in stock. The only criticism I have is that I wish it had the parts to make M5 Stuarts instead of just M5A1s. Hopefully if they do a box of M3s, they'll include parts for M3A1s as well. Based on this kit, they could easily jam in 2 upper hulls and 2 or 3 different turrets for an M3 box.

Damon.

I hate this company, all these glorious releases & now it will be Churchill's, you've just GOT to have them ! I'm going to resist going for the IS 2's, the Zvezda one's will be out soon & the wallet can have a breather in the meantime ?

Cromwells in 15mmm only? No 1/72s?

Abwehrschlacht15 Jun 2013 10:59 a.m. PST

I'm looking forward to more Russian vehicles, the SU series would be nice…

jameshammyhamilton15 Jun 2013 11:01 a.m. PST

SU-76s would be nice.

Also Marders and other German SPGs

Sparker15 Jun 2013 3:44 p.m. PST

15mm Cromwells :-)

No 1/72nd Cromwells :-(

As Jabo 44 so wisely observed, these are simply 'must have' goodies!

Although I will be indulging in some IS2 goodness!

August: Sdkfz 251/D variants kit (four basic halftrack sprues plus conversion sprue which will contain the parts to make stummel, mortar, flamm and pioneer halftracks)

When they did the 251C's kits they included the 37mm for the command h/track
Will the D's included the 20mm AA that went with those command haftracks?

Still hoping for some of those rarer beasts that are actually very useful for a wargames army – like M8/M20 armoured car pack or Grille pack.

Just Jack15 Jun 2013 6:00 p.m. PST

Is there any word on the US Hvy Wpns (in 15mm)? I'm starting to get despondent.

Obviously the configuration was a little different as the 37mm PaK (with full shield) was included in the base 251/D kit in 1/72. Personally I would have been rather happy to see the "variants" kit include the 37mm PaK with low profile half-shield which is what is actually required to build a correct version of the 251/10 Ausf D.

Cromwells in 15mmm only? No 1/72s?

I guess 1/72 version might appear at some later point.

In the meanwhile, Armourfast makes a pretty decent 1/72 Cromwell set. Revell Cromwells are also nice, though rather difficult to find these days and a bit on the fiddly side to assemble.

mysteron17 Jun 2013 3:12 a.m. PST

@ Griefbringer -Revell Cromwells should be easy to find. Try Modelzone if in the UK as they were/are in the sales they have. Manchester store had a stack of them selling for under £7.00 GBP.

If I'm reading that right the PSC SDKFZ 251 conversion set box is going to contain 4 halftracks and a coversion set sprue. This is going to be one big box! :)

Martin Rapier17 Jun 2013 6:36 a.m. PST

Frontline also do a decent (and cheap) resin Cromwell, similar in size to the Revell one. The Armorfast ones are a little large in comparison.

Griefbringer09 Jul 2013 9:43 a.m. PST

There seems to be a news update on the PSC website. 1/72 M4A4 will now be out on 3rd or August.

Lion in the Stars09 Jul 2013 3:39 p.m. PST

So when are they going to get around to the 122mm guns?

I'm waiting on those for my Engineer-Sapper Battalion.
