Great post Alan, shame about the comments, but then you can't vet your followers!

I think with Maurice, a doubles game really brings out the value of the cards…

I am going to have to give Maurice a look. I am becoming very intrigued with the whole 18th Century ImagiNations concept. I wonder if one could do this for the Pike and Shot era?

I don't see any reason why you could not do ImagiNations for 17th century as well. MIght be more fun.

Yes I'm sure there are ample obsure Bishoprics, Principalities,Dukedoms and Electorates around during the 30YW period that a few even more obscure ones wouldn't hurt…

However for me, there was a little too much ecclesiastical unpleasantness during the TYW…I would prefer to make up a much nicer conflict – perhaps the Defenestration of Prague could have been happily patched up in an alternate universe, only for the Misunderstanding of Bratislava to get wholly out of hand…

Although the divine MiLady de Winter was extremely beautiful, and that hapless Bishop so completely besotted….

I like readin these threads about Maurice. I have only had time for one game so far but felt it had a lot going for it.Question ,does Maurice go back far enough for TYW? I have pretty well all the stock held by War and Peace games from the North Star 1672 range in my front room at the moment. It weighed in at nearly 30 kg with what I had bought prior and then the monster boxes arrived. I am considering playing Maurice on the off chance they paint themselves when I am not looking..I was planning to base them for Impetus Baroque I have enough for around 4 decent armies..a bit heavy on the pike and Dragoons to be sure.Than ks for the report, very helpful..and Milla?, she does a pretty good Lady de Winter to be sure.

I did mean base them for Baroue Impetvs and also use them for Maurice.

Although Maurice was pitched at 1690 onwards, it has been used successfully for ECW with no changes, using the advanced rules for pikes.

A group of players are working on a TYW amendment. A few different action cards and notables are probably all that's needed to give an earlier period flavour.

The card deck comes with 3 "DIY" action cards that allow players to implement period house rules quite easily. Ironically, I would like to see these used for battles at the other end of the Maurice spectrum, namely the French Revolutionary Wars.
