Ouch! The prices for that vendor are really high, more so than some of the other 1/285 scale Shapeway vendors. |

Nice stuff but shapeways in general is too expensive |

yep, The Katzchen I can get from GHQ in pewter very much less cost than the Shapeways version. |
cent at war | 25 Jun 2013 5:57 a.m. PST |
The cost may appear to be high but for a model which none of the mainstream manufactures are likley to make its ok! MastersofMilitary have to pay Shapeways for the printing and handling of models which leaves there profit margins low and of course compared to the big players they do not have the volume of sales. However we can get models now that may be years down the line indeed if there ever made! I for one will try to support new inovations like this if i can. thank you MastersofMilitary |

I applaud you for putting photos of the actual models (and with nice paint jobs). That is very helpful; please more. Also kudos for listing the model in frosted ultra detail. Regarding the cost
GHQ models are $2 USD each typically. Obviously, it's hard for Shapeways sculptors to compete with that. However, you have plenty of stuff that is unavailable from GHQ or other suppliers. My suggestions-- 1. Continue to focus on stuff that isn't available from traditional manufacturers (duh). I suggest hypothetical/cancelled stuff -- British N3 battleships, MBT-70, MICV (1970s era US IFV), AH-56 Cheyenne attack helicopter, etc. Oh, and a 1/285 M103 heavy tank and 1/285 Conqueror heavy tank PLEASE. The various postwar Japanese MBTs and APC/IFVs in 1/285 would be marvelous. Note that 1/300 MBTs usually scale very poorly with 1/285 scale MBTs. It doesn't seem as bad with smaller APCs and suchlike. So there's a lot of stuff that is available in 1/300 that we 1/285 guys would love to get hold of. 2. If it isn't too much hassle, make your models available in large lots. For instance, a single Tiger model is $10.70 USD. Four models are $20.69 USD. Still high -- $5.17 USD each -- but getting better. I infer that the setup cost is about $7.40 USD and the incremental expense is $3.33 USD per tank. If I'm close, then you could get the same per unit profit by selling a lot of (say) 12 for about $50.79 USD. That's about $4.23 USD per tank. I'd pay that (or,a little more) for some of the 1/285 modern models I listed above in frosted ultra detail. If you can accept custom arrangements, say that on your page. ("If you want more than X of a particular model, please contact me." Oh and if you're taking requests, I'd love 6 1/2400 British N3 battleships (cancelled due to the Washington treaty). I'd also love 10 MBT-70s, 10 M-103s and 10 Conqueror's in 1/285 scale.<grin>. |

Hello Tbeard, The Basic Printing Costs w/o any kind of Material is around 6 Euro, than you must add material and my earning (in this moment arounf 0,6 E / pcs) If i should live from this money i starved long ago :-) As you can see, i allways tried to made lot of 4 or 5 of each model to keep pricing down. The single models are offered, because i ordered them as prototype test printing and made them aviable for public too. Only some models like the Rammtiger are offered as single models, because there are only one or two ever build. I tried to choose allways Models which are not aviable from GHQ or CinC. ALl other Manuacturers offered mostly in 1/300 and in an unaceptable detailing. Of cause iīm lucky that there are some special vehicles at all, but more or less they are some handemade bubbles. I hope, i made an interesting selection of my models. If some is missiong donīt hesitate to contact me ("contact designer" in the shop). In the past, i made some suggestions from my customers like the Alecto, IS7 and so on. Actually there are some interesting vehicles on the workbench like the MBT70, FV214 and so on. Finished and waiting for testprinting Sturer Emil, Dicker Max and Neubaufahrzeug. And a lot of Cold War MAZ-543 based Vehicles like Smerch and Bereg. :-) Hope you will enjoy. Stephan from MoM |

Neubaufahrzeug ordered and received. I like it! Though I will have to reposition the MG-turrets on the Krupp model – at least the forward one is either too long or positioned too much forward compared to pictures and drawings. I also got the armoured Sdkfz 7 from Dragoman. Is anyone working on a 1/285 Sdkfz 8? Either the basic tractor or the 8.8 cm Flak 18 (Sfl.) auf Zugkraftwagen 12t (Sd.Kfz. 8)? |

In addition to two versions of the Neubaufahrzeug, MoM also offers two versions of the Kaetzchen, the Porsche VK3001 and VK 4501 tanks, the SdKfz 247A and B armored command cars, a Bergepanzer Tiger and Rammtiger, a Porsche heavy tank transporter, two versions of the Radschlepper Ost (with the big wheels), an unusual armored car that never got produced (in four versions), and a very nice Wuerzburg radar. They also offer three Flakpanzer turrets that go nicely with Coelian and E50 hulls from GHQ. They're lovely models, although rather expensive because they're made of Shapeways' FUD (frosted ultra detail) material. They're also rather brittle (generally not a problem except for long gun barrels). I recommend painting with acrylics rather than enamels. |

Somebody makes a 1/300-scale SdKfz 8 halftrack that fits well in a 1/285-scale collection. H&R lists one in their catalog, although I think mine is by Scotia. The latter is identified as an SdKfz 9 12-ton halftrack. It's the basic tractor version. ISM used to make the armored variant with 8.8 cm gun, although it's long out of production and hard to find. |
Scheremetjev | 26 Nov 2013 10:39 a.m. PST |
I will probably get the H&R Sdkfz 8 at some point, just to look at. But I am afraid it will be more or less the same size as an 1/285 Sdkfz 7, and the Sdkfz 8 should be markedly bigger than an Sdkfz 7

Masters of Military is about to release three vehicles on the SdKfz 8 chassis: the basic 12-ton artillery tractor, an armored version with 8.8cm gun, and a civilian variant. They're not up for sale yet, but will probably be available soon. You'll find pictures at link |
