Isandlwana: in 28mm, on a 1:1 scale! OK, the idea is to run a large scale 'skirmish' game recreating the experience of a single British company (so c.80 figures) as the battle develops, with everything else played out on a map (or using 6mm figures on a separate table). Should be able to 'make do' with about 400 Zulus if I recycle the casualties

I've got two different 15mm Rorke's Drift games and have also done Isandlwana. Have "55 Days at Peking" and "Sand Pebbles" in 25mm. They were big accomplishments, at least for me. The big ones I'd like to complete as I near my retirement years are Khartoum in 15mm – the Hollywood and historical versions – and The Alamo in 15mm. |

Hello Field Marshal! " W A T E R L O O " But of course, it's the classic ending to the period, not to mention the big 200 is just around the corner. It contains all the elements, drama, suspense and possibly a surprise ending. A perfect multi-player game. A painters delight and of course a stunning battlefield. We also have the eternal British vs French. Our Napoleonic club is one of the oldest in the world, Napoleonic Miniatures Wargame Society of Toronto, now called the Miniature Brigade. Presently in it's 48th year, Waterloo will be our 50th! Although I have close to 40,000 6mm figures we have never had a complete allied army for Waterloo. That will change as I'm presently painting the last units which will be finished before 2015. Baccus has recently released all the figures I'll need to complete the project. Obviously being a very old Napoleonic club we have played most of the battles at least once and some like Waterloo we have done more often. Once in 25mm with most of the proper figures, but at a reduced scale (high ratio), and in 6mm, but with a lot of substitute figures. This will be our first time with all the proper units on the table. Scaling might force some units to be merged, but for sure every Brigade will be represented and contain a few bases. It will be our first attempt to not only have almost every unit on the table, but also to have a better reflection of the actual terrain. To add to the excitement we also plan to play a couple of variants. What would happen if the Prussians don't show up and of course how would you have deployed the troops. Naturally having all the figures we will be doing all the 1815 battles as well. This will take us most of year so it's certainly a major project for my bucket list. Best regards, Glenn |

dont laugh, Friedland, Austerlitz, and Borodino
using about 4 sets of blocks from C&C napoleonics on 3d terrain. why? because my "friends" say I would be wasting my time. I have the ancient collection (minus the number 2 and 3 exp). do you have any idea how long it would take me to paint those 2000 plus miniatures? actually I bet you do. so yeah, I dig the little blocks with the sticker illustrations. |

We just did one of the "real" French & Indian wars battles (ie in India) and it was spectacular to look at as it combines Tricornes, Moghuls, Rajputs and the sort of toys that a fantasy army can only dream of (a few photos here) link So gearing up getting more figures done for Plassey
(the Seven Years War fascinates me overall as it really is the first World War and pretty much turned Britain into a superpower, only for them to loose the Americas soon after) Battles that I am fascinated by are those where history turns on the result – some real turning point ones are: - Chalons - Hastings - Manzikert - Wagram - Sadowa/Konigratz |

Call me a sap
but Hastings! I don't care what history says, Saxons should have won. The Normans just need a good beating. But then again
. I would do anything to halt progress. My second battle is definitely teutoburg forest. Crush the Romans crush the Romans hahahaha!! |

For me I've done many Iconic Battles and they were: Waterloo(French Won) Alamo(1/2 of Defenders survived at games end) Tsushima(Russians Won) There were others but can't recall them. And now that I'm into Medieval the Battle I want to do is Agincourt. |

In the past 5 years or so, since the development of the "Bloody Big BATTLES!" rules made it practical to fight major 19th century battles in a 3- or 4-hour club night or afternoon, we've done a whole bunch: Leipzig, Waterloo; Mudki, Ferozeshah and other Indian battles; The Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman, the Chernaya; Magenta, Solferino; Shiloh, Gettysburg, The Wilderness (all 3 days), Chickamauga and other ACW actions; Dueppel; Koniggratz, Custoza; Tuyuti; Mars-la-Tour, Gravelotte, Sedan (in fact all of the FPW); Plevna II & III; Chorrillos & Miraflores (War of the Pacific) Omdurman; and a whole bunch of others. But there are still plenty left. Yet to do some more Hungary 1848 action, Indian Mutiny, Taiping Rebellion, Russo-Japanese War, Balkan Wars … Chris Bloody Big BATTLES! link bloodybigbattles.blogspot.co.uk |

I've only done (participated in) a few really big ones. Talavera in Belgium hosted by (then)Maj Trevor Maroney. Waterloo same host ended in a draw. Kursk in the UK in the early 1980's. Can't remember who hosted it but it was fabulous for several reasons. All in 1/300th scale it was supposed to last for two days but by Saturday night it was clear the Germans had won a resounding victory. What I really, really would like to do is the Siege Of Constantinople 1453 in 28mm. Won't happen but we all need our dreams. |

'Big' kind of depends of scale and situation does n't it? We've played games based on 21st Independent Company around Ommershof in September 1944. A 15 x 6 foot table lets us play in 28mm with what we might call 'true scale' terrain – 1 inch on the table equals two yards. |

Naseby in 3mm 1:1 scale. Dark ages Britain campaign covering the period from the death of Offa of Mercia (796AD) to around 1090AD. I wrote campaign rules a few years back, OK around 25 years ago if you must know, but couldn't get the game rolling. Plays in two year peace turns for political actions interrupted by campaign turns when ever someone goes to war. Converted from WRG Ancients to DBA in the last few months. All I need are a dozen or so players…….. |
