If so, could you please share where you got the materials and, if possible, do you have a few pics?

This was the closest I ever got to anything of that sort. So I know you guys must have come up with better ones:

Wow that looks great!

For lots of containers on the cheap you could get a 1x1x36 inch square dowel for about $3.00 USD, cut down to 2 1/2 lengths, makes 14 20 foot containers for 21 cents each, of course you have to doll them up to look like containers, it's what I'm working on now, just cut them today, great for filling a up shipping yard.

Draw back is you can't open them up like you have, but if you double stack them with top one open and just say the first layer is full of dirt, then you can safely say no one can shoot through them or knock them out of the way with a big rig

I see you use cork board but did you use for the base

i have that picture on my saved file for things to do. I had like the shipping container entrance. waiting for some kickstarters and hope someday to do something of the like.

Or if you have access to a circular bench saw you can knock some up real fast.
I also did 3 tankers in 40 minutes. I like this

so may do mine up as something similar. (kids got the other 2 for their Thomas Train set).

Deflateouse: "Or if you have access to a circular bench saw you can knock some up real fast."

Yes. But if I ask my father-in-law for his, he will ask me what I'm using it for. He's never quite understood the hobby, or any hobby for that matter.

Dan :)

Do anyone understand this hobby? (I'm not sure I do)

Warmonkey
If I could figure out how to post photos I would.

I've got access (I'm "storing/holding" it for a friend) to a saw.

I've tried to "draw" what I did but it's ended up looking like this.

Very basic design looks like something from Silent Service.
Piece #2 1.5" x 2"x 12" stick of pine, cut out the void wood, cleaned up with a chisel. Bow was cut with the blade at a "looks right angle". A small cut for the stern.

Piece#3 1&1/4"& 3/4" block of pine got the kids to nail on top = Bridge

Piece #1 1/2" dowel drilled into #2 and glued in = funnel.

Cleaned up and shaped bow on a belt sander lying upside down on it's back. Again to "right look".
15-20 mins done. Dinner takes longer to make.
Design was the boat from Thomas the Tank engine.

Next to clad it used doublesided tape and cardboard (from a ceral box).

Was going to use it as scenery/playing piece for AK-47 games in Somalia (or in that area) but I think I'll do it up like the one in the Picture. Maybe do another for Africa.

Just so love pine offcuts. Double sided tape is your friend and Hey Presto! terrain.
Makes it easier to make a container fort picture I saw Cacique Caribe posted one time.

Well I'm sure it was this one

You could build several different ones or even a walled compound using the top as a catwalk

Cacique Caribe27 Jun 2013 3:50 p.m. PST

War Monkey: "So I have been checking out 1x1x36 inch square wood dowel you can get one for less then $3.00 USD (USD) and the math is 15mm scale = 1/100 as general rule, it's not written in stone so don't blast me with comment as to it being other scales. So 1 inch in 1/100 scale would be 8 feet and 3.3 inches so a 1x1 inch square would be 8.3x8.3 foot, the average height and width of a container, so a 20 foot container would roughly be 2 and 1/2 inches long."

I'm going to have to steal your awesome idea!

Dan

War Monkey27 Jun 2013 5:58 p.m. PST

You can't steal what one shares

War Monkey27 Jun 2013 7:49 p.m. PST

My other plan is to build something like this as well

I'gonna get some of these for my 20mm gaming, might be a tad large for your 15mm needs but are very cheap and all the work is done for me!
