Hey everybody, I would love to get your feedback to see what you think of my using Warhammer Fantasy Black Orks as Warhammer 40k 'Ard Boyz. Have you seen this done before and do you like it? Here's the link: link |

I was doing something similar, once upon a time. Finished the modelling, never finished the painting

I saw that suggested somewhere a few years/editions ago. Works out great! I had plenty of extra arms with sluggas from the regular boyz boxes. Yours look really good |

Very nicely done. Exactly what I did but I used them as the equivalent to termies (can't remember the name for them in Orks since I haven't played 40k in a few years). I used to add a ton of armor on Nob bodies and use those Black Orc heads and weapons. |

Privateer, those would be "Mega-Armored Nobs," and personally, I think they are too small for that role. I looked into doing this for some 'ard boyz a long while back (6yrs or so ago) for my own green horde
The execution here in the pic looks GREAT, but it is also *VERY* expensive. Even cruising eBay and Bartertown, I could never find them at a price I was comfortable spending. Black Orcs are expensive models, but if you value the look enough to shell out the cash, take the plunge. |

On the 'to do' bench I have 40k ork arms and heads ready to go on those chunky fantasy chaos warrior bodies for the same type of unit .Been there for a few years (hides head in shame) I will get to fi
.oh shiny. I will get to do them Your 'ard boyz have come out very well indeed ,nice job . Are they a bad moon horde? |

Mardaddy, Thanks for the memory-jog. I agree they would have been too small but I loaded vehicle armor bits on 'em. When I were done with them, they were very much larger and taking up 40mm bases quite nicely. Also, I think I was able to get 10 Black Orcs (plastic) for around $25. USD Cobbled up with bits they saved me $10 USD or $15 USD per Mega-Armored Thingie Orks :) |

I have a unit of 17 plastic ones (pick-up cheap on internet auction) as 'Ard Boyz with head swaps, SM trophies, Gliffs, shooters and choppers. They work well and look the part. |

Wow, you guys really must have looked at the right time to get them cheap! That's what I get for giving up on them after a few months of seeing them overpriced. |

Nothing wrong with this at all. Allows you to do some converting and get some nice looking figures onto the table. I have taken these and converted them over to 40K because they just do not rank up at all.
Cut off the bow and give them a Shugga very easy conversion to do. As for the Arrows on their backs a little green stuff or leave them be and you got them now with Grenades. |

Jeebo Creebo! Black Orcs are $41 USD for 10 now! Even with that crazy price increase with bits from your vehicles and same converting you can generate a mega-armored guy for around $5 USD when the actual model now costs $22 USD! |
