It appears the Israelis may have been able to make the Russians blink, since apparently they are now no longer planning to provide 144 S-300 SAM missiles (6 x batteries) to Syria:

Israel had threatened to destroy them, if they were to be deployed there.

Not sure we've heard the last on this issue, but in the mean time, it is an interesting development.

I wonder if Putin got any assurances from Netanyahu that Israel won't launch any more pre-emptive airstrikes against Syria in return.

And I wonder if he'll continue to hold off on the missiles if the scheduled negotiations break down or don't happen, which is a distinct possibility due to Hezbollah's victory in Qusair and the rebels' inability to achieve any semblance of cohesion, and the west decides to enforce a no-fly zone to tip the balance in favor of the rebels. He recently sent an excuse of a fleet to the Med to send us a message of his 'resolve' to back the Assad regime.

I doubt it.

I don't think the Israelis make those kinds of deals.

Putin saying he's not going to do a thing, and Putin not doing a thing are not necessarily the same.

He's a little ticked, he's breaking off with his wife (or visa-versa). Saw it on the news scroll.

I think Mako11 is right about Israel not making those kinds of deals.

As far as Vlad baby breaking up with his wife, at least he chose better than our past presidents for bimbos to cheat with:
