Looks like a useful group of figures for near future/low tech infantry:

Rather appreciate the presence of the Dadao broadsword… just make it out of some carbon-bonded monofilament alloy with a monomolecular edge….evil grin

Defiance, making Chinese?

plastic-resin or hard plastic?

I'm not sure about the sword, I like the cultural reference but after years of 40K I've grown to dislike swords on sci-fi figures.

Considering how many US troops carry large blades (nevermind folks like the Gurkhas), a combat shortsword isn't unreasonable.

Intimidating as all hell, too.

doug redshirt06 Jun 2013 2:44 p.m. PST

That is not a short sword and certainly not that light a weapon. That handguard would just get the way when not in use. Imagine how comfortable it would be falling on your stomach and getting the hand guard in your gut.

If these are going to be produced in China, the Chinese will be making Chinese.

mydogbarks06 Jun 2013 3:30 p.m. PST

Looks like more crap.

The hands are clown like and the picture quality is terrible but otherwise, they look usable. I am sort of glad Defiance still shows signs of life from time to time because they have some really neat concepts that no-one else is showing any real interest in doing. I just really really wish they were more competent at the business of actual getting their models to people.

ming3106 Jun 2013 6:35 p.m. PST

My flgs cannot get them at all . I have heard too many no shipment issues to order from them direct . I saw thier recent jeep attack cars but cannot get them . almost like vaporware

Wolfprophet06 Jun 2013 10:09 p.m. PST

They were sculpted by Bob Naismith. That's interesting.

If these are going to be produced in China, the Chinese will be making Chinese.

That would be amusing, but it seems that Defiance now has completely in-house production and are eager to make up for their Bleeped text poor track record. While insulting their former company….and Dreamforge.

I wonder if Tony Reidy will blame the models themselves if the moulds are inferior quality…

Shamefully, I admit that I am in love with horde armies. So, It's only a matter of time before I end up with a few boxes of these once they're released… but I'm also a cheapskate, so I'll be waiting until they're available from a discounter.

Maybe it's just the perspective, but the head of the model- 3rd from left to right, looks tiny?

Earl of the North08 Jun 2013 4:01 a.m. PST

It's a shame they abandoned hard plastic, it's the ability to combine different plastic sets that has always been a big part of why I buy hard plastic sets…..working with resin-plastic is much more of a chore, than hard plastic as well. I've spent the last couple of days sticking my fingers together as I combined the mantic corporation troopers with plastic parts from the marines to make scouts and put the mobile infantry together.

Wargames Factory could very easily swoop in and steal any interest I have in Defiance Games stuff with some mid-tech infantry and powered infantry sets (both old submissions).

Yes, I believe its supposed to be a cuban head and it looks tiny compared to the body.

Defiance have potential, but its the execution they muck up, I was really looking forward to the Germans then saw the pics, the 4WD vehicle looks quite cool, but again the pics show casting issues, these Chinese have character but AK's? I thought they'd changed to a bullpup already.

jakethedog08 Jun 2013 7:58 a.m. PST

Lardie, if any "communist"/"terrorist" faction dont have AKs, the average american youngling will complain! After all if CoD does it…

These dont look too inspiring to me, will have to take like a 30% discount and a guarantee shipping date to make DFG look good in my eyes

On a side note their vehicle is already having problems

from another forum

I already ordered one of the JRAB boxes and was informed, after about a week, that they had to redo the mold. That was on 5/18 and I sent another e-mail a couple days ago wondering what the status was, but haven't received a response yet. I will not be direct ordering again.

Lardie the Great08 Jun 2013 4:03 p.m. PST

Sounds like the same old story from defiance. Good point on the AKs.
