Hello, I'm painting up a Flashman-esque figure, mid-late 1800s and I'm running into conflicting information on the pelisse color. In general I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Napoleonic style uniforms or anything similar, and I can't find my Knotel book. I've seen the 11th Hussar pelisse in red and dark blue (did trumpeters reverse colors?) and I'm also trying to find the color of the fur collar and cuffs. I'm doing the trousers red as befits the Cherry Pickers. I'd like to be 'historically accurate' on a non-historical character, if that makes sense :) |

The pelisse of the 11th Hussars in the 1850s would have been dark blue with black fur. The regimental facings were the same blue as the rest of the dolman. The only red might have been the lining of an officer's pelisse. Trumpeters had not worn reverse facings since the Napoleonic Wars. |
