"The release of Zack Snyder's massive Superman flick Man of Steel is just days away—it hits theaters a week from Friday—so the promotion for the film is starting to hit fever pitch. The latest riches? A slew of new stills from the flick and a 13-minute featurette about the making of the movie. What's probably the most interesting about this behind-the-scenes clip is the pains it goes to in relating that Man of Steel is, in the words of screenwriter David S. Goyer, "not a comic book Superman" but rather a "Superman that exists in the real world." While this shouldn't come as a total shock—Snyder has said before that he wanted to make his film stand out from other Superman movies—it is surprising that this "real" talk is coming out now after a series of recent explosive trailers promising a flick packed with massive General Zod face-offs. So, perhaps this is bringing us back to the somber tone of the earlier Man of Steel teases? "What Chris [Nolan] and David did was [say] ‘Let's let the audience participate in the experience of being Superman without breaking the things that make him Superman,'" Snyder says in the clip.
