This is of course in regard to miniatures.. not strange fetishes or anything! Ok, so I just wanted to gather your thoughts on how messed up they should be? The ones on my site (click my username for link) are relatively "newbies", so they are still in one piece, and not too torn up. I like to think of them as "walkers" (assuming there are: runners, walkers, stumblers/shamblers, crawlers and then proper dead..). I'm about to start work on another range, but wanted to know whether I should damage them up more, and if so, how? I plan to bend them into stranger more awkward positions, as I don't want them all "standing too straight", so that much will change, but I want to know your thoughts on damage. Again this is for miniatures, not TV zombies or any other kind. Cheers for any input guys :) |

Slow, rotten, and numerous, with a few "specials" scattered into the masses. Not a big fan of horribly damaged ones, other than as ambush markers – if an intact zombie can't catch a strolling human, a legless one isn't any threat at all unless you stumble into it while it's hidden or playing dead or something. |

A mix of Just Dead (AKA the JD) and the Rotten Dead (RD), and the Undead Dead (UD) is what I go for in my zombies. But yesterday I learned of a new one Parkour Zombies. VR James Mattes |

You've got to have a couple with limbs missing (arms mostly) as well as the obligatory rib cage showing and guts hanging out one. I'm with Chief Lacky Rich; mostly The Walking Dead type, with a few runners, crawlers and the occasional fatty, with possibly a Liche or two in there also. |

I have painted at least 200 and have used a lot of gore, if I had to do it again, which I will because I have hundreds more to do, I would rather have the whole of them have a cohesive horde look. Some would stand out as especially torn up or special for whatever reason but the bulk would be a huge mob without a lot of individual personality. That of course is hard to do as a painter when you are facing an excellent sculpt. One of the reason I like some of the cheaper 'filler' type zombies. They fit the bill perfectly and dont encourage over painting. |

First of all thanks for all the input guys! So the general consensus is that they can be damaged but not to the point where they are over the top damaged to the point where in "reality" they would be useless as a zombie? So stumbling/shambling around is the most popular "stance"? I may make a one of pack of crawlers at some point just for fun! |

Yes Rovanite, what you stated above. For some others, maybe some really emaciated walkers, ones that have been around a long time but not really damaged as such Alsoin 28 Weeks later there is a quick shot of an infected as it crosses the field just before the helicopter is used as a daisy cutter. It has half on its side chewed out (imagine a great white came along and bit a huge chunk out of the side at waist level, just above the hip) not enough to top the zed but enough to really show it all battered up or something. Great stuff, very excited, Ark3n |

All the way across the board. Some totally mutilated, and some that are barely wacked. It gives the impression that you are an equal opportunity zombie lover.

Those are my preferences – although like I said, a few "specials" in the mix are fine, and they can be almost anything. I'm particularly fond of the odd bloated ghoul type like my alter ego here: auction Cyberzombies like the Privateer Press Mechanithralls are also very cool, although harder to explain in most settings. |

I mix "fresh" with skeletal. The whole gamut. And gaming-wise, I prefer zombies to move inexorably and without a rush, overwhelming by mass and weight, not speed or strength

I prefer the slow shambleing with the occasional runner and at least one Hero zombie in the horde. |

A complete mix, some just suffered a small bite while others have been mutilated. Some are recently dead and their clothing is intact others have been dead quite awhile and look like it. I would damage them up by making them dirty / stained. I would also have blood smears around the mouth and hands. Blood splattered in liberal amounts across their shirts |

When and if I ever get around to painting Zeds, I want a horde of shambling horror. It should be varied in shape to show that it could be anyone that is infected. That is what makes it scary. |

I like them pretty much undamaged. An X-Acto blade and paint can add all the damage you need. I am currently assembling/painting the 'Zombie Vixens' set. As they progress, a lot of Milliput is being used to plug up much of the 'damage'. The problem with multiple sculpts is that all those tears and rips become repetitive, ie left leg is cut to bone, etc. If I want a missing hand, chop it. As it is there are more stumps than anything else. Well, for me character always superceeds the gross out. It is far more interesting to guess at what they did or who they were before 'things changed'. |

this sounds like a typical boring response to a fun game where imagination is a key to a fun game. "Oh no not too ripped up thats not the style we like" I`m currently playing Dead Island on the Xbox & its great to see the variety of mutilated zeds. there are "boss" Thug zeds which need plenty of ammo to kill & plus other specials that need a bit of skill to put down, so, let your imagination go if you dare, & make a range that folks will take a second look at, instead of "Oh yeah, is that it" |

There are some excellent zombie miniatures available even before you go wild doing conversions. I saw a great mini, it was an upright zed ina bodybag with just its feet sticking out the end. Not much of a threat but fun and different. |

Watched recording of Night of the Comets today which I have seen before but not in a million years, but the zombies talk and can use firearms. Definably the toughest type. |
